About the role

Job Summary:  The Applications Systems Analyst role is to deliver support to end users in the organization by troubleshooting applications and software for all internal customers as well as guiding end users to use various types of software programs efficiently and effectively in fulfilling business objectives.  Problem resolution may involve the use of diagnostic and help request tracking tools and require that the individual give in-person, hands-on assistance.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Analysis and Support:

  • Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, and configuring systems and applications.
  • Field incoming problem tickets from end users via telephone and e-mail (on and off hours support) to resolve application and software issues
  • Works with end user groups to solve business problems with available technology including hardware, software, databases and peripherals.  Analysis of business and user needs, and translation of those requirements into proper system specifications and system documentation
  • Record, track, document the problem-solving process and actively resolve end user help requests
  • Evaluate documented resolutions and analyze trends for ways to prevent repeated future problems.
  • Utilize SQL and stored procedures for data and logic update assignments.   
  • Generate on demand queries using Hyperion and SQL tools.
  • Keeps abreast of technological developments and applications and propose process and technology solutions to management.  Above average skill level with the Microsoft Office Suite of products
  • Assist with special projects assigned by manager

 

QA Testing:

  • Collaborate with software/systems personnel in application testing, such as system, unit, regression, load, acceptance and other testing methods
  • Create and execute test plans and scripts that will determine optimal application performance according to requirements set in business specifications
  • Test any new development to ensure integration into company systems meets functional requirements, system compliance, and technical specifications    
  • Assist with automation of test plans, test cases and test scripts within available automated testing tools
  • Test fixes and perform post-resolution follow-ups to ensure problems have been adequately resolved.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the field of computer science, information science, management information systems, or business administration preferred.
  • 2 – 3 years overall business experience preferred.
  • Proven experience with troubleshooting principles, methodologies, and issue resolution techniques
  • QA testing experience is desirable.
  • Working technical knowledge of SQL and stored procedures.
  • Hyperion and/or PowerBI knowledge is a plus.
