Job Summary:

The COVID-19 pandemic and the most recent mpox outbreak demonstrated humanity’s vulnerability to emerging infectious disease threats and the critical role pharmacxy plays in the delivery of healthcare generally and vaccines specifically. Pharmacists are consistently ranked among the most trusted of healtcare professional, and pharmacies have become a convenient channel to access vaccines for many adults. Additionally, the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act and the elimination of cost sharing for all Medicare Part D covered vaccines makes pharmacy an important, and growing channel for the delivery of travel vaccines. As a result of these market trends, Valneva has established the National Account Director , Pharmacy to help develop and execute an integrated engagement strategy for this important and growing segment.

Working collaboratively across key Valneva stakeholders (e.g. Medical, Sales & Marketing, etc.), the NAD-Pharmacy will develop and execute a strategic plan to maximize the adoption and appropriate utilization within the pharmacy segment of Valneva’s portfolio of late-stage and FDA-licensed vaccines. Specifically, the NAD-Pharmacy will have deep working knowledge of the community pharmacy segment (independent networks and major chains) and how they develop/implement vaccination services. The National Account Director, Pharmacy will identify all key stakeholders influencing the procurement, adoption and appropriate utilization of travel vaccines, the criteria driving these decisions, along with drivers and barriers associated with the execution of each pharmacy’s vaccination priorities. Additionally, the National Account Director, Pharmacy will play a critical role of shaping Valneva’s activities and investment to achieve a sustainable and productive long-term relationship with this important customer segment, while fostering Valneva’s business objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Have a thorough understanding of the U.S. Community Pharmacy ecosystem and how vaccination programs are developed, adopted, implemented and procured, with a particular focus on travel vaccines.
  • Drive the development and execution of Valneva’s strategy to engage with the community pharmacy segment. Including customer segmentation, engagement and deployment strategies, and relevant investments required to achieve our near and long term objectives.
  • Builds strong relationships, networks and partnerships across the community pharmacy ecosystem, including key organizations like APhA, NACDS, NCPA, etc. to understand the needs of their members and how Valneva can support areas of mutal interest.
  • Develops and implements strategies to shape the environment that supports broader access to travel health services in general and travel vaccines in particular.
    • Work with Valneva Government Affairs to develop advocacy strategies, with relevant stakeholders, to support the delivery of vaccines within the community pharmacy segment (e.g. adequate reimbursement, etc.)
  • Be a proactive partner to US Leadership team, working collaboratively with Government Affairs, Medical Affairs, Sales & Marketing, Finance, Legal and Supply Chain/Logistics to ensure the needs of Valneva and our Pharmacy customers.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required, Degree in Pharmacy (e.g. PharmD) preferred
  • Prior Community Pharmacy experience, with a deep understanding of the inner workings of both clinical and operation considerations
  • Five to ten years of demonstrated success working in the community pharmacy environment
  • Deep knowledge and nuanced understanding of the US vaccines landscape generally and community pharmacy specifically
  • Demonstrated ability to set, and successfully execute strategic priorities - bringing together different internal stakeholders, and move an agenda forward to resolution and action.
