The Systems Engineering team of Electric Power Systems division is currently in search of a Dynamics and Controls Engineer with a strong background in electric machines and power electronics. Our System Dynamics and Control Engineering Team consists of specialists in physics-based modeling, simulation, and control system design for Electric Power Systems. Engaging in various projects across the product lifecycle, we prioritize the advancement of cutting-edge technologies in aircraft electrification and electric propulsion.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform physics-based analysis of next generation aircraft electric power systems, including electric and hybrid propulsion.
  • Develop closed loop control algorithms of power generation and distribution equipment to meet system power quality requirements.
  • Integrate and model rotating machinery, power electronics, circuits and software models to develop optimized system designs
  • Provide detailed control knowledge to support power system lab testing and debugging
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend investments or changes in technology, resources, procedures, equipment, systems, or other assets to improve the quality of the organization’s systems products and services.
  • Manage configuration process, perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Perform technical planning, requirement verification and validation, and risk analyses for electric power systems.
  • Support customer driven trade studies and power system architectural exploration.

Qualifications/ Experience Needed:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 years of experience in modeling, simulation, and analysis of power electronics and/or electric machines
  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering) in System Dynamics and Controls or related field
  • Degree focused in the area of control of electric machines, power electronics, power systems or similar discipline
  • Physics based modeling experience
  • Dynamic simulation experience
  • Controls analysis experience: performance, stability, signal processing
  • Experience using classical and modern control theory
  • Experience with electromagnetic, electromechanical, embedded, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • MATLAB/Simulink experience
  • SABER experience
  • Aerospace experience
