Job Description
Title: Sr. Service Engineer

Key Accountabilities:
- Independently plan and execute comprehensive investigations into complex product failures occurring in the field
- Gathering detailed information about the failure event (e.g., operating conditions, environmental factors, maintenance history).
- Performing on-site tear downs, inspections and diagnostic testing.
- Utilizing specialized tools and equipment for data collection and analysis.
- Conducting root cause analysis (RCA) using methodologies such as 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, and fault tree analysis.
- Based on the investigation findings, develop and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address the root cause of failures.
- Designing and testing modifications to the product or its components.
- Creating and updating technical documentation, service bulletins, and training materials.
- Collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to implement changes.
- Serve as a technical expert and provide advanced troubleshooting assistance to field service technicians, customers, and internal stakeholders.
- Analyze field failure data to identify trends, patterns, and potential areas for improvement.
- Prepare comprehensive reports summarizing investigation findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in failure analysis techniques and industry best practices.
- Maintain strong relationships with customers by providing timely updates, clear explanations, and professional support throughout the investigation process.
- Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls Royce Code of Conduct.
- Perform special projects as required
Basic Requirements:
- Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S without sponsorship. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology and 5 years of failure analysis or service engineering experience with internal combustion engines; or 9 years of failure analysis or service engineering experience with internal combustion engines
- Willingness to travel up to 75%
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of internal combustion engines
- Excellent mechanical or electrical knowledge of engines and tools, including their designs, controls, uses, repair, and maintenance, including major engine overhaul and the tune-up of diesel engines and components
- Excellent ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
- Excellent analytical and creative problem solving skills, when problems are very complex
- Excellent organizational, planning and follow up skills
- Strong oral/written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
