NYCEDC’s Asset Management Division manages 64 million square feet of real estate properties and non-traditional assets across all five boroughs of New York City including commercial and industrial real estate properties as well as transportation, critical infrastructure, and energy assets. AM Portfolio Management pursues a triple-bottom line strategy, targeting economic returns and multiple social metrics including job creation, growing equitable neighborhoods, and ensuring a thoughtful approach to incorporating sustainable and resilient measures.
Position Overview: The VP will lead the overall site activation strategy for NYCEDC’s Sunset Park portfolio, ensuring key assets and campuses are activated through high-quality events, public programming, and strategic partnerships that strengthen asset branding, support leasing and community engagement goals, and generate revenue. The role will also oversee TV and film requests and advance community engagement through cultural programming and public art across the Sunset Park portfolio. While the primary focus of this role is Sunset Park, the VP may advise on site activations and special projects across other Asset Management properties on a limited basis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the vision, development and execution of asset activation strategies intended to grow revenue, promote and raise awareness of assets, and enhance community programming and public-facing activations for the Sunset Park portfolio.
- Identify opportunities and cultivate partnerships with event producers, cultural organizations, community partners and commercial users to activate portfolio assets year-round.
- Manage financial performance for site activations, including tracking P&L and other key metrics.
- Oversee operational execution of site activations, including location selection, permitting coordination, contracting and licensing, scheduling, and event calendars; and ensure appropriate marketing and promotional materials are developed and maintained.
- Serve as key partner and liaison to NYCEDC Portfolio Management teams, Marketing, Public Affairs, Property Operations, and other internal and external teams to facilitate the activation and overall promotion of portfolio assets.
- Serve as the main point of contact and provide leadership, direction, and direct project initiation, coordination, and project/contract management for Sunset Park marketing and public relations efforts with both internal NYCEDC teams and outside contractors.
- Research, benchmark, and report on key market and event industry trends and actively prospect event partners and community programming partners for portfolio activations.
- Oversee the development and implementation of portfolio pricing structures, discounted space and in-kind protocols, standard operating procedures, and process enhancements across portfolio assets.
- Identify and pursue strategic partnerships and community engagement opportunities to enhance revenue-generation and offer a myriad of public programming and event offerings throughout the calendar year.
- Participate in the annual budgeting process and continuously monitor, track, and report on revenue, expenses, and other metrics.
- Manage and implement special projects for the Sunset Park portfolio as needed.
- Advise and engage on site activations and event strategies for additional Asset Management properties on a limited basis.
- Serve as a clearinghouse, identify and advise on TV and film requests and other space inquiries and requests for the Sunset Park portfolio and other AM assets, ensuring coordination among the division, and overall alignment with operational, community, and financial goals.
- Plan and implement public-facing programming including cultural events and public art that strengthens community engagement and placemaking.
- Schedule flexibility including nights and weekends as needed.
