What the Pharmacy Tech does at Worldwide

The Pharmacy Technician performs study dosing, dispensing, dose preparation, and related tasks following Worldwide procedures, applicable regulations, and study protocol requirements under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist while directly reporting to the Associate Director, Pharmacy Services, or may be indirectly supervised by the Director and Leadership. .. This position requires strong attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

What you will do

  • Always maintain a professional attitude, appearance, and communication when interacting with sponsors, participants, vendors, and coworkers. 

  • Complete study-specific pharmacy documentation, dosing, labeling, drug accountability, temperature and humidity monitoring, blinding procedures, and quarantine of test articles.

  • The technician also completes study-specific Pharmacy documentation, processes and tracks supply and equipment orders, and maintains pharmacy inventory.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.  The duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.

Your experience

  • Candidates should have 1-3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, an active Pharmacy technician certification, and registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. An IV admixture certification is a plus.

  • Experience using equipment includes, but is not limited to: computers, rolling carts, photocopiers, telephones, mops/brooms, needles, refrigerators, freezers, , Analytical weight-scales, calculators, dishwashers, microwave, and automatic pipette.

  • The Pharmacy Technician will be assigned tasks each shift and is responsible for performing them accurately and on time. It will be the Pharmacy Technician’s responsibility to notify their department leader if they are unable, untrained, or otherwise unable to perform any assigned tasks, or if any issues arise while on duty. The Pharmacy Technician must be reliable, punctual, flexible with work hours, and able to follow both written and verbal instructions.

  • Possible mental demands include, but are not limited to: reading, math, writing, intense concentration, verbal communication, participant contact, attention to detail, frequent interruptions, fluctuations in workload, high volume of workload, and performing very strict time-dependent procedures. 


  • Possible physical demands include, but are not limited to: Extended periods of time at a computer; lifting and carrying of objects weighing 5-50 lbs., hearing, seeing, gross and fine motor use of upper extremities, kneeling, walking, standing, leaning over for extended periods of time, squatting, eye strain/fatigue, climbing, pushing, pulling, reaching, and exposure risk to potentially infectious blood and/or body flui
