Jockey Room Custodian

Job Responsibilities:

Custodian ensures that Jockeys are present and their dress and riding equipment meets track specifications. Also maintains order in the room among Jockeys and Valets. Examines lead pads to determine that they meet track specifications. Gives direction to Valets to clean jockey room. 

Specific Duties:

• Wash/Dry jockey silks, saddlecloths, and other riding apparel
• Maintain cleanliness in Jockeys Room
• Maintain order among Valets and Jockeys
• Prepare jockey apparel for each race day
• Maintain and preserve lead weights used in saddlecloths
• Prepare lists outlining riding obligations for Valets and Jockeys
• Ensure accuracy of silks info listed in official program

 

Qualifications:

You should have a high school degree or higher and share these traits:

• Must pay close attention to detail
• Must have very strong organizational skills
• Must have basic knowledge of washer/dryer maintenance
• Must have strong leadership skills
• Must be able to work effectively around strict time constraints
