Yard Jockey (B3 Night Shift)

Our Jonestown Distribution Center, a 218,000 sq. ft. refrigerated facility operating 24/7, is currently seeking a Yard Jockey/Shunt Driver to join our team. The essential function of this position is to assist in providing timely and safe re-positioning of commercial tractors and trailers to designated areas located on facility property.

 

Shift:  2nd shift (6:00 PM - 5:30 AM) working an alternating 3 day-4 day work week (equivalent to working approx. 14-16 days per month)

Primary Responsibilities:

• Maintain the daily cross-dock switching operation by switching tractors and trailers to the appropriate locations on company property.
• Ensure that the load is safely and correctly placed and is secured by using ropes, chains, and slings to avoid damage to the truck or to the goods.
• Responsible for tractor and trailer maintenance, performing daily vehicle inspection such tires, lights, brakes, oil, water and maintaining fuel levels.
• Participate, support and comply with all health, safety requirements by reporting any accidents, incidents or equipment damage that occur.
• Perform daily yard check and ensure equipment and facility grounds are organized and in proper working condition
• Perform as backup forklift driver, successfully able to operate a stand-up forklift, to assist in loading/unloading of trailers
• Complete daily reports, accurately and timely; Communicate with other warehouse departments as needed, throughout shift

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both in spoken and written formats
• Must have current driver's license with a clean driving record
• Minimum of 1 year's experience operating a Stand-up Forklift
• Must be able to move full skids of produce with a manual pallet jack
• Complete a background and drug test screening
• Must have manual dexterity to perform computer skills
• Complete a background and drug test screening

Working Conditions:

• Must be able to work outside year round under various weather conditions
• Must be able to work in our refrigerated warehouse with 50° F controlled zones.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. with or without accommodation
• Position requires sitting, standing, walking and bending, squatting, and crawling on a regular basis
