Are you a first-year law (1L) student interested in gaining real-world, in-house legal experience at a leading healthcare organization? Delta Dental is seeking two motivated 1L students to join its Legal and Policy Division for the 2026 Summer Legal Internship Program. This program is designed to give students meaningful exposure to the day-to-day work of an in-house legal team while building practical legal and professional skills.
Program Details
- Start Date: June 1, 2026
- Duration: 10 weeks, full time hours
- Location: Remote in select states, with potential travel to San Francisco, CA or Alpharetta, GA as needed
What You’ll Do
As a Summer Legal Intern, you’ll work closely with experienced attorneys and legal professionals on projects that reflect the wide range of issues handled by Delta Dental’s in-house legal team. Responsibilities may include:
- Researching and analyzing state and federal laws and regulations.
- Supporting projects related to healthcare regulation, data privacy, policy, and compliance.
- Reviewing and assisting with the drafting and revision of contracts.
- Assisting with business transactions and internal legal initiatives.
- Conducting legal research using tools such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
- Preparing written analyses, presentations, and reports.
- Participating in team meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams and contributing to ongoing legal projects.
- Supporting the day-to-day operations of the Legal and Policy Division.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for curious, reliable, and detail-oriented students who are eager to learn and gain hands-on legal experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current 1L student in good standing at an ABA-accredited law school.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with legal research platforms such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Familiarity with virtual collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
Adaptable, proactive, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.

Base Pay Information
The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental’s assessment of the candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications, and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity.
Pay Grade 15. $40,900 - $85,600
