As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Equity Derivatives Technology Group , you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives. As a Java / DevOps Software Engineer you will join our agile team creating, transforming, and supporting our global equity derivatives sales & marketing platforms using modern technologies and industry best practices.  With continuous learning, inclusivity, and developer experience a focus of our work culture you will work with closely with local and global software engineers, production management teams, marketers, traders, and researchers as well as find opportunities to enhance your skillset and interests by taking advantage of internal and external training opportunities, mentors, joining interest groups and communities, and learning from other leaders at the firm and industry.

Job responsibilities

• Execute software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
• Gather, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
• Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
• Contribute to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
• Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
• Integrate, verify and release management of updates into the production environment
• Ensure observability and tuning of the production environment to achieve the lowest latency and highest stability. Working with our application development and infrastructure partners to achieve this.
• Improve the CI/CD pipelines and overall developer experience. 
• Participate and remediation actions of Post Incident Reviews
• Create, maintain and execute upon the results of Plant Hygiene and Metric Reporting

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience
• Experience with Java/JVM and the Java/JVM ecosystem
• Well-rounded software engineering skills across end-to-end software lifecycle
• Good understanding of software design patterns and clean code practices
• Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Experience partnering with product and engineering teams
• Able to work on a diverse team

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Experience with object-oriented design and micro-service architectures and best practices and experience working on financial systems
• Experience with finance / derivative products
• Experience with the Java ecosystem including Spring, Web Services, and Messaging
• Experience with NoSQL / Big Data Databases
• Experience with Cloud Technologies e.g. Docker/Kubernetes
• Experience with Java 11+ and / or additional JVM languages like Kotlin/Scala
• Experience with Linux: understands the OS architecture, fluent in command line and scripting.
