BACKGROUND

Purpose of Activity/ Assignment: 

The Global Annual Results Report (GARR) for Child Protection highlights global results for children, progress and challenges against the outcomes and outputs as set out under Goal Area 3 of UNICEF’s Strategic Plan (Every child is protected from violence and exploitation).

Under the direct supervision and guidance of the Child Protection Specialist for Communications, Advocacy and Knowledge Management, and in close collaboration with the Planning and Evidence Building Team and entire Child Protection Programme Team, the consultant will be responsible for writing the 2024 Global Annual Results Report for Goal Area 3 (Child Protection). The report will need to respond to the guidelines and timeframe established by UNICEF’s Programme Group for this purpose.

Scope of Work:

Global Annual Results Report (Goal Area 3): Write and support the production of the 2024 Global Annual Results Report (Goal Area 3) to be reviewed and cleared by senior management. The report will highlight country, regional and global Child Protection results for 2024, including successes/challenges; a contextual analysis; strategic innovations and a financial annex. This will represent the third year of reporting under the 2022-2025 Strategic Plan. The report will be approximately 70 pages in length.

Task will include:

• Prepare first draft of the GARR based on relevant information, including Country Office Annual Results (COAR), Results Assessment Matrix (RAM) and Strategic Monitoring Questions (SMQs).
• Prepare second draft including coordination/determination of visual content (to be developed by a designer) of the GARR based on feedback from UNICEF staff and senior managers.
• Prepare final draft including inclusion of visual content (to be developed by a designer) of the GARR including fact- checking and proof-reading and facilitate design and editing process.

1. Review of background materials; Consultations held with key UNICEF staff; Submission of contents layout, including visual/design elements/photos, and human-interest stories and case studies, for Global Annual Results Report for Goal Area 3 (GARR).
