About the role

The Accountant is an entry level accounting position responsible for the accurate recording, tracking and reporting of financial activity for FINRA. This position is assigned to one or more areas of the Finance department and works closely with numerous other areas within the Finance department such as Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cash Management, Financial Reporting, Financial Planning, the Investments Office, Payroll, Purchasing, and Revenue Management. This position will also interact frequently with Management for the various business lines to which it is assigned and will take primary responsibility for assigned revenue streams and/or vendor or customer relationships.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist with accounts receivable, billing, reconciliations, and reporting for assigned revenue streams.
  • Perform cross-functional collaboration on billing matters to ensure accuracy.
  • Aid in month-end accounting close activities, including billing, GL account reconciliations and preparing/posting journal entries.
  • Assist in preparation of management reporting and ad-hoc requests from cross-functional business partners. 
  • Document analysis and research of billing matters including full details of issues identified and resolutions reached.
  • Participate in the coordination, preparation of schedules, and other requests associated with internal/external audits of internal control over accounting operations.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business or Finance with at least 12 semester hours of Accounting. Two or more years of relevant work experience in an accounting environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Strong communication and analytical skills.

In addition to location, actual compensation is based on various factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s skill set, level of experience, education, and internal peer compensation comparisons.

CA: Minimum Salary $68,400, Maximum Salary $126,600

CO/HI/MN/VT*: Minimum Salary $59,500, Maximum Salary $105,500

IL*: Minimum Salary $65,800, Maximum Salary $116,000

Jersey City, NJ/NY, NY: Minimum Salary $71,400, Maximum Salary $126,600

MD/Washington, DC: Minimum Salary $68,400, Maximum Salary $121,200

WA: Minimum Salary $59,500, Maximum Salary $121,200

*Including positions performed outside the state but reporting to an office or manager in that state.

Candidates can expect salary offers that range from the minimum to the mid-point of the salary range. FINRA provides full pay ranges so that the candidate can consider their growth potential while at FINRA.
