Who We Are: 

Bayview Hunters Point Foundation has been at the heart of social justice for over 50 years, providing support services for predominantly low-income people of color in the Bayview and throughout San Francisco.   

Our mission is to build a community that is empowered, clean, safe, and healthy.  We are focused on multidisciplinary, community-informed support for our clients, addressing the root causes of unemployment and homelessness, and advocating for the basic human rights of food, health, economic and housing security.   

Today, BVHPF’s nearly 200 employees serve over 5,000 disadvantaged clients each year.  Our programs include:   

•  Mental health counseling for youth and adults 

•  School-based mental health services 

•  Substance abuse counseling and methadone treatment 

•  Family transitional and supportive housing 

•  Rapid rehousing and flex pool housing programs 

•  Case management services at several homeless and housing programs 

•  Bayview SAFE Navigation Center 

These programs are funded through nearly 20 contracts with the City & County of San Francisco, and are monitored and regulated by several authorities, including CCSF and the State and Federal government.


Position Overview:

This position performs secretarial and administrative work in connection with the clerical functions of the Substance Use Disorder Services Programs.  Requires responsibility for interpreting, carrying out and enforcing existing methods and procedures in connection with officer operations, makes regular contacts with other departmental personnel and the general public relative to furnishing and obtaining information on office activities, gathering, preparing and maintaining operating records and reports relative to office activities.  Provides basic departmental specific administrative support:

  

Duties & Responsibilities:?

  • ?Provides analytical and administrative support to administrative and staff managers 
  • Coordinates activities between departments and outside parties 
  • Works with agency staff at all levels to complete projects of complex and confidential nature 
  • Types a variety of office reports, statistical billing reports, medical records, procedures manuals and other materials; composes routine correspondence in accordance with standard practices and policies 
  • Responsible for maintenance of Substance Use Disorder Services “Petty Cash” account 
  • Assists in computer data entry for billing and client services 
  • Maintains agency files and a wide variety of other office records, orders and maintains program supplies and equipment 
  • ?May instruct employees as to work procedures and clerical operations 
  • ?Friendly and professional demeanor. 
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality. 
  • Strong customer service orientation. 
  • ?Ability to work effectively in a team environment. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). 
  • ?Strong organizational and multitasking skills. 
  • ?Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Basic knowledge of office equipment (e.g., fax machines, printers, copiers). 
  • ?Good time-management skills. 
  • ?Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned



Preferred Qualifications: 

  • BA or AA degree in the social service or related field desired; experience past 5 years may substitute for education; responsible office management experience; 
  • good knowledge of modern office procedures, equipment and practices, knowledge of current personnel practices and procedures.
  • Requires ability to exercise good judgement in making routine decisions in accordance with existing laws; ordinances, regulations and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ability to compose and type routine correspondence, maintain satisfactory working relationships with other employees and the general public.
  • Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision; must be able to work in an environment with regular client contact.
  • Requires excellent skills in writing, typing, and office procedures- have the ability to type 60WPM.
  • Must be proficient in working with computers.

Shifts Available: 

  • Monday through Friday (Full-Time): 12:00pm – 8:00pm 
  • Monday through Friday (Part-Time): 2:00pm – 8:00pm OR 4:00pm – 8:00pm
