Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Supervise night warehouse operations and personnel for safe and efficient preparation of product for delivery to customers the following day.  A first line manager directing associates to achieve accurate orders that are then staged and loaded on the trucks.  Oversees the preparation of the warehouse for receiving the next day.  Involved in resolving personnel, organizational, equipment problems and ensures the overall security of the facility during the night.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


•    Supervise and coordinate the most efficient unloading of inbound shipments, orderly stacking of product, and the picking and staging of outbound shipments in accordance company standards
•    Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage.
•    Ensures that trucks are loaded within acceptable timelines.
•    Works with operations team to identify sources of inventory shrink and assists in development of an action plan.
•    Responsible for the cross communication between shifts.
•    Analyzes the current operations and makes recommendations to improve on expense and control.
•    Ensure the efficient and safe operation of all material handling equipment.
•    Prepares various reports and forms such as credit slips, accident reports, computer invoices, shift inspection reports, repair orders, and associate time sheets.
•    Ensure Associates follow all safety policies and procedures. Thoroughly investigate and report all safety accidents and violations in a timely manner. Conduct operations in accordance with OSHA and MSDS Standards.
•    Ensure proper food safety practices are maintained. (HACCP/PCQI)
•    Maintain a neat, and orderly work area; ensure all security policies and procedures are followed.
•    Regularly inspects facility for safety hazards and either resolves them or reports them to the Operations or Safety Manager as appropriate.  Accountable for maintaining the physical condition of the warehouse and its equipment.
•    Direct the operations of the assigned work team to achieve predetermined objectives.
•    Conduct shift meetings.
•    Follow all policies and procedures.
•    Responsible for associate development through training on policy, procedures, and leading by example.
•    Creates cohesive organization by keeping lines of communication open and directing associates to ensure efficient workflow.
•    Monitors a variety of operational information, such as “mis-picks” and productivity reports, to ensure individual order selectors and the entire shift are meeting rates and following preferred methods.  Takes action through coaching and counseling to correct behaviors.
•    Plan work schedules and assign duties to maintain adequate staff for effective performance of activities and response to fluctuating workloads.
•    Assist Operations Manager in interview and hiring process, as well as discipline and termination process for night warehouse personnel.

Qualifications

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:


•    HS Diploma or equivalent, Associates Degree Preferred
•    3+ years supervisory or warehouse experience
•    Ability to interpret operational data
•    Ability to perform the same work duties as those supervised
•    Ability to work in fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
•    Ability to communicate effectively with variety of individuals
•    Ability to pay close attention to detail.
•    Strong interpersonal skills and judgment in communicating with staff.
•    Must be able to relate to others beyond giving and receiving instructions: they must get along with co-workers without exhibiting behavioral extremes and respond appropriately to criticism from a manager.
•    Willingness to develop a mentoring relationship in order to contribute experience, skills, and wisdom to subordinate employees for their development.
•    Receptive to management development suggestions and willing to seek additional knowledge to facilitate job growth.
•    Excellent written and oral communication skills.
•    Proven ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.
•    Must have very strong urgency in meeting objectives and deadlines.
•    Familiarity with Inventory C
