Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Corrections is looking for a detailed oriented person to serve as an Fixed Assets/Property Control Accountant in the Fixed Assets/Property Control Unit. The selected person will perform a variety of professional accounting duties in the maintenance of property control records and financial reporting procedures. This position will also establish and maintain inventory accounts, reconcile reports, and maintain appropriate property control and fixed assets systems. Essential Functions
- Maintains property control records in the Statewide Accounting System for the Illinois Department of Corrections.
- Reconciles the Statewide Accounting System on a regular basis.
- Receives daily transactional documents for property control, verifying accuracy and timely processing.
- Assists with the fixed asset physical inventory process.
- Responds to audit request inquiries.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, with courses in business administration and accounting for four (4) years of technical accounting experience.
- Qualifying state employees in the employee Upward Mobility Program, may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the state requirements for this classification.

- Prefers at least five (5) years of professional accounting and/or auditing
