Responsibilities

We are seeking a Recreation Program Team Lead to coordinate athletic programs in Eastman’s Recreation organization.  As Team Lead, this role is responsible for athletic clubs such as basketball, volleyball, golf, pickleball, bowling, soccer and disc golf and oversight of Summer Youth Baseball Programs. This role blends sports management, strategy development, people leadership, organizational skills, communications and networking skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of athletic programs, as well as benchmarking, developing and maintaining the strategic vision for Eastman Recreation athletic programs and collaboration among various internal and external partners.

 

Responsibilities:
•    Lead, mentor, and develop employees who are responsible for delivery of athletic programs, empowering them through coaching, support, and resource enablement. 
•    Continually evaluate and benchmark programs, explore/implement program enhancements, develop proposals for new offerings, maintain budgets for each sport/club and the overall athletic program. 
•    Drive excellence in athletic programs that support employee engagement and overall wellbeing while fostering a collaborative environment that promotes knowledge sharing, ideation, responsibility and proactivity.  
•    Interact with club members, coaches, participants and other stakeholders, responding to feedback and incorporating input in future programming as appropriate.
•    Stay up to date on trends and latest developments related to athletic programming.
•    Recruit officials, score keepers and other support roles to ensure program success.
•    Reserve playing fields, gyms, courts, etc. as needed.
•    Develop schedules and team rosters; recruit, train, and mentor coaches; obtain, maintain and stage equipment.
•    Communicate professionally, timely and proactively with club leadership, coaches and participants.   
•    Configure and maintain the online registration system for Summer Youth Baseball Programs.
•    Serve as Eastman Recreation Club Treasurer, which includes bookkeeping, budgeting, processing payments and receivables, producing monthly and yearly financial reports for all Recreation programs, including athletics.
•    Serve as ERC Club representative for various member-led clubs and liaise between clubs and Recreation leadership.  Provide consultation to ensure continuity in program delivery, adherence to company policies and Recreation Club bylaws.
•    Coordinate and/or support miscellaneous employee and alumni events in the Recreation organization.

Qualifications

•    A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.  A degree in sports management, physical education, athletic administration, or a related field is preferred.  
•    Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in athletic administration, coaching, or sports program management.
•    Experience in managing program budgets.
•    Proficiency in building team rosters, organizing games and tournaments.
•    Ability to work independently and proactively while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
•    Professionalism and excellent oral and written communication skills.
•    Attention to detail and follow-through.
•    Strong interpersonal skills to educate, engage, negotiate, and problem solve among cross-functional organizations and stakeholders.
•    Analytical skills to measure trends, track team performance metrics, and identify/implement program enhancements.
•    Coaching certifications or other athletic credentials are beneficial.
•    Proficiency in MicroSoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
