P4 Senior Manager, Data Science, Iris Acceleration

Position Summary

Do you want to be at the forefront of one of the most exciting and visible applications of Gen AI and machine learning at CVS Health? We are seeking seasoned and high performing data scientist to join Iris team. Iris an existing in-house RAG (retrieval augmented generation) solution that provides automated answers to health insurance questions that our members have. Iris is currently live for customer service representative (CSR) users within Aetna's call center, where is driving significant call duration savings and great user feed-back, but its vision is to become a intelligent member facing bot powering CVS self- servicing channels. This role requires someone who is willing to become a subject matter expert on customer service practices - the best way to create a tool that serves users is to think like a user and become deeply familiar with their pain points. You will work extensively with the A&BC data engineering team, product team, and business (Service Operations) to establish requirements, design enhancements, implement them or coordinate implementation with DE, evaluate performance, and measure impact.

As a senior manager, you will be responsible for leading a small team (1-3) people while balancing individual contributions. The Iris DS team focuses on the following four areas to enhance the quality of Iris answer and expand its reach:

1. Developing new features (e.g. question classification, driving the vision for making Iris member-facing in YAVA/AH, designing how the chat experience functions, summarization/simplification)

2. Ensuring accuracy (e.g. diagnosing product feedback and identifying fixes, improving benefit search, improving search strategy, prompting, codifying business practices with advanced analytics, ML, or gen AI)

3. Leading new data source integration

4. Measuring product performance, usage patterns, and impact

 

 Required Qualifications

6+ years of relevant analytic experience

6+Experience programming using R or Python

6+Experience in SAS or SQL

 Preferred Qualifications

· Balance managing a small team of direct reports (1-3 people) (50%) with IC work (50%)

· Experience working with non-technical stakeholders to establish business requirements for undefined requests

· Experience building and evaluating data products with gen AI

· Experience with natural language processing - classification (sequence/token), information retrieval (dense/sparse search), and regex

· Familiarity navigating GCP - GCS, Bigquery, Bigtable, dataproc, Vertex ai

Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and manage stakeholders

Experience with Generative AI, LLM, and NLP

Full Stack Data Science experience is a plus

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Economics, Physics, Engineering, or related discipline.

Master’s degree or PhD preferred

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$106,605.00 - $213,210.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
