The Impact You’ll Make

Recursion Pharmaceuticals is at the forefront of reimagining drug discovery through the integration of automated cell biology, high-dimensional and diverse data sets, and sophisticated analytics. We are seeking a Research Associate, In Vitro Neurobiology to support and advance Recursion’s discovery projects.  You will help us to convert novel insights from our screening platform into life-saving medicines for patients, by providing the data that allows us to move molecules into clinical trials. These experiments include generation of novel reagents, lead optimization of chemical matter, and development of clinical tools such as efficacy biomarkers and patient identification strategies. In this role, you will:

• Build - You will help us create a world class biology team that enables drug discovery and development at unprecedented speed, for compounds identified by our unique drug discovery platform
• Deliver - Perform in vitro biology assays that generate the data that helps us understand and optimize our molecules
• Achieve - Work with internal and external partners to rapidly deliver high-quality in vitro data to enable decision making on a rapidly growing portfolio of pre-clinical programs in oncology and neuroscience
• Collaborate - Work in a cross-functional matrix organization with fellow biologists, chemists, data scientists, and data engineers with a passion for drug discovery

The Team You’ll Join 

Reporting to the Cell Production Lead, you’ll be joining the NeuroAtlas team within the Bioengineering group. This team works on iPSC differentiation techniques, process development for scaled cell production, assay development for cell characterization, and gene editing techniques to deliver data packages that drive decisions about cellular models and compound selection. With a mission of bringing transformative medicines to patients, this high performing team works together to continually improve our workflows.

The Experience You’ll Need

• A Bachelors and 3+ years of lab bench experience or Master's degree and 1+ years of lab bench experience in cell biology or related field
• Experience with iPSC cell culture techniques
• Experience with cell culture techniques and cell-based assays with primary or iPSC derived microglia, oligodendrocytes, neurons and/or astrocytes
• Familiarity with data analysis and graphing software, such as Excel or Graphpad Prism
• Growth mindset, a willingness to learn and to teach, and a strong team player
• Attention to detail and the ability to accurately record experimental details and results
• Experience working collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment
• A desire to radically improve lives, transform the lives of patients, and discover novel therapeutics

Nice to have experience:

• 1+ years of applicable industry experience
• Experience with confocal or widefield fluorescence microscopy
• Experience with complex cell culture systems (e.g. organoids and/or co-culture)\
