Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.


I. POSITION OBJECTIVE
To assist in research and development projects and support engineers in the daily needs of projects and to conduct Q/C testing to support Production units and monitor product quality.

II. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
1. Calibrate, maintain and operation of Instruments and equipment.
2. Analyze Samples, final product and raw materials.
3. Pilot plant operations and polymerization reactions.
4. Complete paperwork as required.
5. Troubleshoot and repair instruments.
6. Attend project meetings and contribute to the projects discussed.
7. Review and evaluate data and communicate all findings to other departments, management or engineers.
8. Maintain Lab logbooks.
9. Complete QC Analysis for Process.
10. Attend Safety and Departmental Training
11. Adhere/Implement/educate/train and adhere to all company policies and procedures including but not limited to, ISO, personnel, quality, environmental, health, safety, Federal and State laws, regulatory and company requirements
12. Comply with NTG (Nothing Touching the Ground) requirements. Including daily audits.
13. Be active in Operation Clean Sweep, and ensure employees are aware of and accountablefor pellet loss prevention, containment, cleanup and disposal.
14. Operate a vehicle both in plant and on public roadways
15. Work outside normal shift hours as needed.
16. Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
17. Perform other duties as assigned
III. QUALIFICATIONS
A. TECHNICAL JOB CRITERIA
1. Previous Related Experience Required
High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of eight hours of college-level chemistry; or an associate degree in Chemical Technology (Laboratory); or three years of industrial laboratory experience; or at least 15 consecutive months of experience in a Polyolefins, PVC, or Polymer Analysis laboratory. Experience in plastic converting processes and testing is preferred.
2. Technical Skills Required to Perform This Job
1. Lab Instrumentation;
2. Processing Machines;
3. Personal Computer (including programs such as spreadsheets, word processors, and data bases.);
4. Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS);
5. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
3. Education
High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of eight hours of college-level chemistry, or an associate degree in Chemical Technology (Laboratory) preferred.
4. Other Certification/Training Required
• Will require training in Company Policies and Procedures after hire.
• Current employees must meet all technical and safety training requirements for current position, as specified in the Master Training Plan.
• Must participate in the following subject training and pass required certifications.
