Position Summary and Qualifications:

The Assistant Director of Community Standards serves as an integral member of the Office of Community Standards, through coordination of a comprehensive educational student conduct system and implementation of educational programs and interventions for students. The Assistant Director proactively contributes to the learning and development of students by fostering an understanding and commitment to the rights and responsibilities of the larger University community in the spirit of the University's Jesuit and Catholic mission.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • In conjunction with the members of the Office of Community Standards, coordinates a comprehensive educational student conduct system, including but not limited to: trainings, case assignments, the consistent and fair application of standards, sanction development, and  sanction compliance. 

  • Serves as a hearing officer for alleged violations of the University’s Community Standards, as well as the Interim Health Professions Academic Honesty Policy (or similar)..  

  • Manages alternative case resolution processes (e.g. conflict resolution, facilitated dialogues,  mediations, and restorative justice). 

  • Manages information technology needs as they relate to the Office of Community Standards, including  but not limited to: website, student conduct software (e.g. Maxient), and related portals. 

  • Provides analytics in the form of quantitative and qualitative information for assessment and compliance throughout the year, including but not limited to Hawk Numbers, Athletics reports, and survey responses.

  • In collaboration with key campus partners, facilitates campus wide programming that encourages inclusion, respect, and accountability, while bringing awareness to the standards of the University and the work of the Office of Community Standards.  

  • Serves as an office liaison to the Office of Residence Life, the Office of Public Safety & Security, and other campus partners, for student complaints, incident reports, investigations, and dispositions.  

  • Provides oversight for all hearing officers regarding Community Standards matters, including coordinating and facilitating Community Standards Board Hearings involving violations of the Community Standards policy.

  • Facilitates all aspects of the recruitment, training, advisement, promotion, and evaluation of Community Standards Board members and Community Standards Advisors.

Secondary Responsibilities:  

  • The person who holds this position has been classified as a Campus Security Authority under the  Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act).

  • Serves as a member of Advisory Council on Alcohol, Drugs, and Student Health, as well as additional  committees, as needed.  

  • Supports and participates in trainings, meetings, professional seminars, and events relevant to the responsibilities of the position. 

  • Works collaboratively with members of Student Life and others members of the University community to support the mission of the Division of Student and the achievement of short- and  long-term goals and objectives that are aligned with the goals of the University. 

  • Communicates the Jesuit, Catholic philosophy and University policies to students, parents, and others, as appropriate.  

  • Maintains a high degree of professionalism and serves as a positive role model to staff and students. 

  • Works respectfully with all staff, students, and parents regardless of their race, religious affiliation,  sexual orientation, national origin, gender identity, age, or disability. 

  • Fulfills additional responsibilities as warranted by student needs and organizational priorities.  

  • Shares on-call duty rotation for evening, weekends, and University holidays. 


Minimum Qualifications:
Required:
Master’s degree with relevant experience.
