In this position…

This role will be to lead Design and Release team of engineers delivering both current model and future model development work.  This supervisor must be self-motivated with strong communication and organizational skills due to complexity of the sub-systems and components and collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot warranty, supplier quality and Plant assembly issues. Strong engineering skills and prior Design and Release background is required. 
 

What you'll do...

  • Supervise a team of component engineers for Underbody Systems
  • Perform supervisor duties such as preparing and administering performance reviews, employee 1:1s, career development discussions, and hiring as required
  • Deliver designs concepts and hardware through the product development phases such as design, analytical DV, prototype delivery, physical DV, PPAP, and launch
  • Deliver quality improvement actions by supporting our Systems Teams, Powertrain / Vehicle Operations Plants, and suppliers in the resolution of warranty, supplier quality, and plant issues. 
  • Lead a team-of-four with our purchasing counterparts to develop commodity sourcing strategies and part costs
  • Work with systems teams to identify and deliver durability improvement actions
  • Support and ensure strong program milestone process reviews to meet required program milestones including strong FMA documentation 
  • Interface with suppliers to support problem solving, implement design and process improvements.
  • Lead Component Peer Reviews and work with Technical Specialists to deliver cost, weight, and manufacturing efficient component designs

What you'll have…

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required.
  • 5+ Years of Prior Automotive or powertrain component experience
  • Exceptional people management skills with demonstrated ability to set priorities, delegate tasks, and deliver programs
  • Strong engineering and prior Design and Release background including Failure Mode Analysis development and documentation
  • Strong Verbal and Written communication skills.
  • Experience solving quality issues using 8D, Six Sigma, 5 Why problem-solving methods and implementing corrective actions for production as well as prevent recurrence for the future.

 Even better you have…

  • Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering 
  •  5+ years experience in design and release experience on automatic transmission or electric Power Unit components.
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering
