Position Title: Assistant Professor – Exercise and Sport Science

Position Requirements: Candidate is expected to teach 24-30 credit hours per academic year in addition to other responsibilities.

Position Details: 9-month, full-time appointment in the Rudy School of Nursing and  Health Professions. Teaching to include a variety of on-ground, online, and/or hybrid courses in undergraduate and Master’s programs. In addition to teaching, the candidate will be expected to participate in university and community service.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge and skills with software applications including, but not limited to, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Understanding of and willingness to teach competencies required for specific courses.
• Excellence in teaching and facilitating the learning process for students.
• Applying diverse instructional strategies.
• Willingness to work in an inter-disciplinary capacity with other majors within the Health Professions and/or other University programs.
• Excellent oral, written, and listening skills.
• Assign and update grades for courses in a timely fashion.
• Complete course assessment documentation upon course conclusion.

Experience:

• Demonstrated teaching experience or ability to teach.
• Prior experience teaching in an online or hybrid environment is desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to manage an Applied Human Performance Laboratory.

Education:

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise and Sport Science, or Health/Sport Data Analytics.
• Willingness to learn the use of various instructional technologies to teach traditional, hybrid, and/or distance learning (online) courses.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Doctoral degree in Exercise Physiology, Physical Therapy or Health/Sport Data Analytics.
• Documented experience with programming languages including Python, SQL, and R.
• Ability and willingness to potentially teach courses in statistics and quantitative methods.
• Previous teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
• Certification or licensure appropriate to specialty (e.g. ACSM, NSCA, DPT, ATC).
