• Provides individual, group, and family counseling for veterans and their families using evidence-based practices in office, virtual, and field settings.
• Conducts comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, diagnostic screenings, and risk evaluations specific to the unique experiences of veterans, such as combat-related trauma, PTSD, and reintegration challenges.
• Develops, implements, and monitors individualized treatment plans tailored to the needs of veterans and their family members to support recovery and wellness.
• Maintains timely, accurate, and confidential documentation of all services in compliance with HIPAA, TVC grant requirements, and professional ethical standards.
• Plans and facilitates veteran-focused community education sessions that promote mental health awareness, suicide prevention, and stigma reduction.
• Represents the Mental Health Program at community events, including veteran-related events such as resource fairs, town halls, and community forums to increase access to services.
• Builds partnerships with veteran-serving organizations, VA services, faith-based groups, and community stakeholders to strengthen referral networks and outreach efforts.
• Distributes veteran-centered educational materials and leads workshops on topics such as post-deployment stress, substance use, trauma-informed care, suicide prevention, and family resilience.
• Provides immediate therapeutic support and crisis intervention for veterans and families experiencing acute emotional or behavioral health crises.
• Conducts risk assessments and safety planning for individuals presenting with suicidal ideation, combat-related trauma triggers, or other urgent mental health concerns.
• Coordinates with law enforcement, Veterans Justice Outreach programs, Crisis Intervention Teams (CIT), EMS, and other partners to ensure appropriate crisis response and follow-up care for veterans.
• Serves as a liaison between the Mental Health Program, veteran-serving agencies, and community stakeholders to improve access to care and streamline services for veterans.
• Assists in developing and implementing culturally competent strategies to engage underserved veteran populations, including those who are unhoused, underinsured, or at high risk.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams within Fort Bend County Health & Human Services, including public health, social services, and emergency response teams, to provide holistic care to veterans.
• Collects and reports data specific to veteran services to ensure compliance with TVC grant deliverables and to inform program improvements and strategic planning.
• Participates in program evaluation, needs assessments, and other initiatives to enhance services and address gaps in care for veterans and their families.
• Supports disaster response and emergency management efforts by providing psychological first aid and crisis support to veterans and the broader community during local states of disaster or emergency events.
• Participates in emergency response activities during local states of disaster, supporting psychological first aid and crisis support to veterans and the broader community, and other tasks as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Master’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or closely related field.
• Licensure as a Professional Counselor (LPC), Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Psychological Associate (LPA) in Texas.
• Two (2) years of experience providing mental health services in community, public health, or clinical settings.
• Experience providing therapeutic services to veterans and their families preferred.
• Experience in both clinical treatment and public health/community engagement is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and culturally responsive service delivery.
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to perform mental health assessments and interventions.
• Knowledge of public health principles, social determinants of health, and mental health promotion strategies.
