General Responsibilities: Assure all the needed preparing of the patient for the visit is done, processing patients in a timely manner, assisting with procedures, providing overall patient satisfaction, maintaining the flow of the patient visit, assuring that the environment is kept safe and clean. Pull and prepare charts as needed. Obtain test results as needed. File all appropriate paperwork in chart correctly.
Complete preparation for patient visits, process patients in a timely manner, assist with procedures, and maintain the flow of the patient visit while ensuring a safe,clean environment, and optimizing patient satisfaction. Additional responsibilities include obtaining test results as needed, medical record preparation, and updating/filing information in the medical record.
Required Qualifications:
• High School graduate.
• Post secondary training in Medical Assistant program is required.
• Bi-lingual desirable.
• Organizational skills.
• Computer literate desirable.
• Basic Life Support Certification

Physical Effort/Environment:
• Moderate physical activity, walking, standing, stooping, and occasional lifting.
• Frequent use of the phone, writing, typing, doing vital signs and verbal communication.
• Potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens, biohazardous materials, and infectious diseases.
• Ability to clean instruments appropriately and clean up waiting rooms and exam rooms as needed.
• Manual dexterity required for injections, immunizations, computer use, etc.
Work Schedule Demands:
• Hours consist of weekdays, weekends, and holidays, including all hours of operationwith occasional unscheduled overtime.
• Travel between all Convenient Care sites.
Communication Skills:
• Communicate with patients, providers and colleagues daily.
• General communication over the phone and taking messages.
• Have sensitivity to the patient population we serve, by identifying cultural, social, and economic characteristics. Applies verbal and non-verbal communication skills in patient interactions and utilizes teach-back, active listening, written materials, and visual aids.
Significant Job Functions:
Clinical
• Responsible to ensure all charts and forms for the office visit are ready for the provider, i.e. encounter form, chart forms, labs, and appointment list, quality measure templates
• Receive patients and take their vital signs, Wt., BP, HT pulse, temp. obtaining patient history/reason for visit, assisting the patient in case management as needed.
• Obtain need for medication refills and record patient data in charts.
• Perform CLIA routine diagnostic testing per SOP protocol.
• Responsible for assisting in answering calls for their provider and taking accurate messages.
• May assist the provider with phone calls as needed.
• Prepare patients for examinations and tests.
• Operate and maintain clinical equipment.
• Scrub procedural equipment and tools and properly sterilize them in an autoclave machine.
• Properly dispose of medical waste and sharps.
• Manage the flow of the provider.
• Assist providers in rooms as needed.
• Clean and stock rooms.
• Take inventory of supplies as needed, checking expiration dates, and appropriate disposal of items.
• Secure department at end of shift if last to leave; unplug equipment, locking supply cabinets, and shut off lights.
• Adhere to OSHA, FTCA, HRSAand licensing standards.
Administrative
• Complete paperwork as needed. Maintain appropriate departmental logs as needed.
