Maintenance Operating Engineer
• Assist the powerhouse mechanic with the performance of his/her duties; must be able to understand the function and operation of the power plant so as to act as a substitute as needed.
• Applicant must be able to perform duties including but not limited to: Preventive equipment and vehicle maintenance, lawn maintenance, snow removal, road maintenance, steam thawing, and brush removal.
• Perform routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles such as checking oil, water, and tires.
• Operate graders for leveling and operates tractors to load materials such as dirt and rocks.
• Operate backhoe and front-end loaders, as required.
• Operate forklifts and dump trucks to transport trash and materials.
• Operate various equipment for general site preparation, landscaping, snow removal, and related assignments.
• Operate trucks including hydraulic equipment such as tail gates, hoppers, and packers.
• Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
• Maneuver motorized heavy equipment to ensure the accurate removal and placement of materials.
• Loading and offloading rocks, debris, and other materials from heavy equipment.
• Observing stipulated safety codes at all times.
• Communicating with coworkers to elucidate project specifications, as needed.
• Reporting injuries and other accidents to the line manager.
• Advising the line manager of requisite upgrades, repairs, and replacements.
• Perform monthly preventative maintenance.
• Other duties, as assigned.
• Experience requirement: 7+ years or Journeyman level
