Rivers Health is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse for the Operating Room that preform the duties listed below:
Registered Nurse will provide direct care to the surgical patients with primary emphasis on the intraoperative period. Intraoperative activities are directly supervised by the surgeon. Follows departmental standards, policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job.
The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below; and specific functions may change from time to time.
- Performs surgical hand scrub and assists the surgeon as assigned.
- Intraoperative functions include: tissue handling, providing
exposure, use of instrumentation, providing hemostasis and suturing.
May close incision excluding peritoneum and fascia.
- Maintains knowledge and skill in applying the principles of asepsis
and infection control.
- Performs effectively in stressful and emergency situations.
- Maintains competency in knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology
and operative technique related to the specific operative procedures
in which the RN assists.
- May function as scrub nurse or circulator as needed.
- Takes responsibility for specific projects which will ensure
departmental compliance to standards of environmental care,
management of information, care of patients and infection control.
- Keeps team leaders apprised of special concerns regarding quality,
cost effective care and risk management issues.
- Performs nursing care in a safe and timely manner according to all
hospital and departmental policies, procedures and philosophies.
- Assists in education and staff development of nonprofessional
personnel. Provides technical supervision on the unit.
- Maintains competency by seeking educational opportunities related to
the field.
- Continually evaluates care being delivered and constantly strives to
increase quality and efficiency through the hospital-wide
interdisciplinary CQI process.
- Practices positive customer relations techniques.
- Assist with unit cleanliness.
- Works in harmonious manner with team members and strives to create a
climate conducive to open and honest dialogue and sharing of
concerns.
- Participates in developing and evaluating annual unit goals and
objectives. Attends unit meetings.
- Demonstrates excellence in customer service skills.
- Fosters and atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration.
- Participates in quality improvement activities including serving on
quality improvement teams.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Complies with Corporate Policies, Departmental Policies and
Procedures and Personnel Employee Handbook.
