EMPLOYEE CLASSIFICATION: Staff (Exempt; Full-Time; 12 month (2080 annual hours)

POSITION SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
This position is responsible to assist in the managing of students and programming related to Chapel Music and HeartSong ministries
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
• Act as the musical director for Chapel and HeartSong ministries in the rehearsal of teams through vocal and band coaching and overall quality control
• Responsible for the selection and arrangement of all HeartSong programming
• Responsible to guide students in the selection and programming of all Chapel band music
• Responsible to oversee Chapel bands (or assist as directed) in soundchecks
• Be available to lead the student body in worship in Chapel
• Assist in the programming of all designated Chapel events
• Assist with the development and management of the Chapel music calendar
• Assist in the identification and selection of students to serve on Chapel and HeartSong music teams
• Assist in the selection and scheduling of training topics for all teams
• Serve as the producer for any Chapel and HeartSong recording projects by selecting and arranging music, overseeing the rehearsal and recording schedule, album concepts, artwork and title, and managing studio mixing
• Advise the Director of Production Services and office staff in the implementation and identification of strategies for booking teams in churches, camps, and Christian schools
• Develop mentoring relationships with student band members
• Fill in for other areas of production, such as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor of Arts Degree or comparable past work experience
• Music aptitude and ability to lead a band
• Computer and word processing experience
• Organizational skills
• Communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively and accurately with directors, pastors, and students
• Touring experience on a Cedarville University HeartSong Team is preferred, not required
• Valid driver’s license

REQUIRED MENTAL/PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
• Ministry-oriented with servant’s heart
• Ability to work cooperatively within a team
• Ability to set and achieve goals without direct supervision
• Task-oriented; detail-conscious; able to work under pressure
• Strong interpersonal skills needed both in and out of university environment
• Sound judgment is needed when answering phone questions regarding the various ministry expectations and limitations
• Ability and willingness to learn new computer software
• Must be flexible and able to accept interruptions graciously
• Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds
• Must be able to extend hands and arms in any direction
• Must be able to make repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers
