Associate Director, Data Scientist – Clinical Trial Operation and Design

Location: Foster City, CA

The Advanced Analytics Decision Sciences team within Clinical Data Sciences is seeking an Associate Director of Data Science team focusing on capability delivery across the clinical trial portfolio for GTAI(Gilead Trails AI Program). This person will be a key member delivering on design insights, operational strategy analytics (global study feasibility) and additional capabilities for studies. In this role, the data scientist provides key thought leadership & Strategy towards how AI/ML can be leveraged to optimize clinical trials operations, improve diversity in trial recruitment, and enhance data-driven decision making in a variety of workstreams within the clinical development space. The data scientist will work directly with Design and Innovation team and clinical study teams to understand the business need, provide data & insights to study teams, and measurable impact that AI-driven and data-driven decisions can make on the speed, cost, diversity, and success of clinical trials.

The data scientist in this role is expected to be a hands-on pragmatic leader within the Decision Sciences organization in the application of AI/ML toward real-world clinical use cases and is deeply involved in all aspects of technical development of algorithms including coding packages, configuring compute environments, evaluation & review of models, and design of model architecture. The data scientist will interact with various technical roles in the clinical data sciences and clinical operations & clinical development organization including architects, data engineers, data analysts, and product managers to operationalize AI-driven applications by providing expertise in model development and operationalization. The data scientist will also interact directly with internal stakeholders in an advisory role.

Responsibilities

• Works with stakeholders in an agile project management framework to plan, design, and execute projects leveraging AI/ML.
• Works with Capability Development Owners & (Operational Strategy and Protocol Design) ,Business Process Owner and Design Directors to ensure items are delivered as per business needs. 
• Provides feedback to Capability owners on capabilities that would enrich and improve the user’s experience and business needs.  
• Communicates bugs to System Owner. 
• Delivers on needed ad hoc capabilities that aren’t yet integrated into combined analytics capabilities (e.g. Patient Funnel & Geographic Ops Strat Capabilities and GenAI capabilities that will surface decisions made by governance committees). <
