Internal Manufacturing Indianapolis is a function within Roche Diabetes Care Global Operations & Quality, responsible for the manufacturing of the majority of our Diabetes Care portfolio for the global demand of our patients.

Role Purpose

As a Project Leader Engineer, you will provide ownership of the assigned process and provide engineering support as required by the production schedule. You will troubleshoot process issues, lead/contribute to process improvement/characterization projects, train maintenance and production personnel, conduct pilot and validation activities following Roche Diabetes Care, Inc. policies and procedure. You will ensure the validated state of the production process/equipment is maintained. You will provide expertise in engineering, design and process and/or scale-up, develop and recommend new process ideas and technologies to achieve cost effectiveness and improved product quality, and establish operating equipment specifications and improve manufacturing techniques. You will apply engineering principles in a broad range of technical assignments, making independent decisions based on sound reasoning and analysis, interfacing with various departments to ensure processes and designs are compatible for new product technology transfer and to establish future process and equipment automation technology. You will demonstrate a higher level thought process and holistic approach, often participating in the development of new processes or technologies by monitoring industry trends and moving them through proof of concept and feasibility.

The Opportunity

  • Leadership and Strategic Planning: Provide leadership and strategic planning for assigned processes, assisting department leadership in setting strategic direction.

  • Process Development and Implementation: Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of manufacturing methods, procedures, and processes for products, components, subassemblies, and final assemblies.

  • Research and Testing: Develop mechanical and electromechanical processes by studying customer requirements, researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials, and soliciting feedback from operators and maintenance technicians.

  • Coordination with Design and Development: Interface with design and process development engineering to coordinate the release of new products to the manufacturing process.

  • Cost Estimation and Tooling Recommendations: Help estimate manufacturing costs and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements for new or existing lines.

  • Quality Assurance: Assure system and product quality by designing testing methods, testing finished-product and system capabilities, and confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.

  • Guidance and Compliance: Provide guidance and advice to lower-level staff, maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulations, and participate in the on-call rotation t
