IT Systems Administrator

Description

The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for the management, integrity, upkeep, and configuration of computer systems within the organization.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Prioritizes and assigns team members to IT projects
• May participate in the hiring and coordination of training for the IT Department
• May conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Administers, installs, and troubleshoots a variety of operating systems
• Performs systems maintenance tasks, such as system back-up, recovery, and file maintenance
• Schedules, installs, and tests system software upgrades
• Configures software and resolves technical problems
• Provides technical support to end users
• Monitors and maintains software licensing and maintenance agreements
• Maintains equipment and hardware, and perform repairs as needed
• Manages the purchasing of all software, hardware, and other IT supplies
• Arranges service by hardware vendors to repair or replace defective products
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to explain technical issues to technical and nontechnical staff and customers.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Superior understanding of computer and networking hardware and software systems.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn a broad array of networking and systems hardware and software.

Experience/Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience required.
• At least four years of related experience required.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
• Must be able to traverse the production floor as needed
