The Data, Analytics, and AI (DAAI) organization within Digital Technology leads the enterprise strategy and execution of data, advanced analytics, and applied artificial intelligence (AI) across Raytheon. We transform data into trusted intelligence by building predictive models and scalable AI solutions—delivering innovation, measurable impact, and value across the business.
We are seeking an experienced Director of AI & Data Science to join the DAAI Leadership Team. This role will shape the future of data science and AI at Raytheon by leading a high-performing team of data scientists and AI engineers. You will drive innovation by applying the latest advances in machine learning, natural language processing, and computer vision to solve mission-critical challenges. This role provides the opportunity to directly influence business outcomes by transforming data into intelligence that enables smarter decisions, competitive advantage, and measurable impact.
What You Will Do:
- Team Leadership: Lead high-performing teams delivering production-grade AI/ML and advanced analytics solutions.
- AI Solution Development & Deployment: Design scalable AI systems for applications in predictive analytics, NLP, computer vision, optimization, and anomaly detection.
- Innovation & Best Practices: Integrate the latest research, tools, and methodologies into AI development workflows and be a thought leader across Raytheon & RTX.
- Cross-Functional & Cross-Enterprise Collaboration: Coordinate between business, data, enterprise service, and compliance teams to deliver end-to-end AI solutions
- Travel: Anticipated 20–40% travel to collaborate with team members and business stakeholders.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Role typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 14 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 12 years' experience. (In lieu of degree, a minimum of 18 years’ relevant experience will be considered).
- Experience designing and deploying scalable AI/ML solutions (including one or more of the following: predictive analytics, natural language processing, anomaly detection, and computer vision)
- Experience with data modelling, statistical methods, and algorithm development.
- Experience with one or more of the following modern AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn) and MLOps practices (e.g., MLFlow, containerization).
- Experience leading cross-functional teams of data scientists, engineers, and researchers to deliver measurable business outcomes.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML, Applied Mathematics, or related STEM field.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value and communicate effectively with senior leadership.
- Experience working in regulated industries such as aerospace, defense, or government.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS GovCloud, AzureGov) and modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks).
- Track record of innovation, such as patents, publications, or enterprise-scale AI deployments.
- Knowledge of data governance, model risk management, and ethical AI practices.
- Exceptional leadership skills with track record of building, mentoring, and scaling high-performing teams.
