Senior Finance Manager, Azure Revenue Recognition

Microsoft’s Corporate Accounting Revenue Assurance team is looking for highly skilled and motivated accounting professionals with dynamic leadership and a drive for synthesizing complex, cross-functional collaboration.

The Corporate Accounting Reporting and Analysis team focuses on defining revenue recognition policy across products and programs, enhancing and consulting on system integration and design, researching GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) revenue recognition questions and analyzing and reporting consolidated financial results.

As a Senior Finance Manager, Azure Revenue Recognition, you will be a collaborative and motivated individual who enjoys working closely with business partners to deeply understand the business strategy and related processes. You will focus on reviewing and documenting the accounting position for new product launches, as well coordinating with the revenue systems team on system implementations that support new product launches. This position provides high visibility to management across our business groups, as well as working with a team of professionals experienced in technical accounting.

Responsibilities

• Work with technical GAAP specialists within the team and finance/business leads across the company to understand the economic and accounting implications of strategic deals and partnerships
• Coordinate with systems counterparts to identify and document new system or process steps required to support product launches
• Effectively identify accounting issues, apply the relevant accounting knowledge base and make decisions with conviction, making the complex simple
• Prepare and present training to business partners
• Provide technical aptitude for special projects and other ad hoc requests

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 4+ years accounting or finance experience
  • OR Master's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 3+ years accounting or finance experience
  • OR equivalent experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 8+ years accounting or finance experience
• OR Master's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 6+ years accounting or finance experience
• OR equivalent experience.
• Professional accounting certification such as CPA or equivalent.
• 8+ years of related work experience, preferably with a mix of tech companies and public accounting; Software and Technology industry is a plus
• US GAAP knowledge and experience with emphasis on ASC 606
• Ability to collaborate and be comfortable dealing with ambiguity, influencing across multiple complex organizations, and creating effecting partnerships
• Business partnering and cross-group collaboration skills with higher-leveled audiences
• Proven financial, analytical and communication skills, including presentation of data
• Self-starter that is well organized, adaptable, and able to multi-task and work well under pressure
