About This Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to contribute to the development of privacy-enhancing solutions for XR-based HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) training. This position is part of a joint CSIRO Data61-UQ Cyber Research Centre project which aims to address the challenges associated with using XR in HSE training by developing innovative techniques and tools to support usable privacy, privacy-preserving AI/ML, and ethically responsible AI/ML.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to focus their efforts on developing their expertise and emerging research profile in their discipline. At this level it is expected that the incumbent will contribute to service and engagement roles and activities.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Research
Produces quality research outputs consistent with discipline norms by publishing or exhibiting in high quality outlets.
Conduct user research to understand privacy concerns, expectations, and behaviours in XR environments.
Evaluate the usability and effectiveness of existing privacy-preserving mechanisms in XR contexts.
Design, implement, and evaluate a user-centric privacy tool for XR applications.
Conduct in-depth research on privacy threats and vulnerabilities in XR environments, particularly in the context of distributed learning.
Contribute to the development of privacy-preserving distributed learning algorithms for XR.
Collaborate with researchers and industry partners to translate research findings into practical solutions.
Publish research findings in high-quality academic journals and conferences.
Supervise research students and interns as required.
Participate in applications for competitive research funding to support projects and activities.
Work with project leaders and colleagues in the development of joint research projects and applications for competitive research funding support.
Proactively updating UQ and Data61 lead chief investigators about research progress on a regular basis.
2. Supervision and Researcher Development
Contribute to the effective supervision of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students (as appropriate).
Demonstrates personal effectiveness in supervision and the management of researcher development.
Effective lead and develop supervisee performance and conduct by providing feedback, coaching, and professional development.
As appropriate, manage research support staff effectively throughout the employee lifecycle in accordance with University policy and procedures.
Working to promptly resolve conflict and grievances when they arise in accordance with University policy and procedures.
