Senior Chemist/ Principal Chemist

This professional engineering role requires the individual to work independently with minimal direction, developing procedures and directing analyses to scale up chemical processes and transfer process technology to production plants.  Individuals also investigate financial aspects of the project and make recommendations to management. A key member of project teams within RD&E, providing significant input into project direction, strategy, and timing.  May also initiate or contribute to the development of differentiated technology as well as products, processes, or systems.  Individuals are also encouraged to invent new product and processing concepts which may eventually be commercialized.

What You Will Do:

• Develop and transfer phase 0-1 chemistry and formulation concepts
• Collaborate with anchor and divisional research scientists/RDE leaders on new development projects and platforms
• Develop new formulations, testing and characterization methods
• Develop concepts and new ideas and verify leads in bench-top synthesis of novel chemistries
• Develop innovative applications and extensions of existing or new products, processes, systems or methods having major importance to the business.
• Evaluate scale-up feasibility of developed formulations from bench to pilot plant scale
• Support field performance validation of newly developed chemistries
• Interpret experimental data and communicate results clearly to peers and project teams in written reports and oral presentations

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or related discipline and 5+ years’ experience working in an industrial RD&E environment; or
• MS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or related discipline and 3+ years’ experience working in an industrial RD&E environment

Preferred Qualifications: 

• 1 year of synthetic and formulation chemistry experience
• Demonstrated success in working on complex and multi-functional project teams
• Strong problem solving skills
• Working knowledge of statistics
