Data Platform Graduate Intern (Summer 2026)
Sigma ComputingAbout the role
About the Team
The Data Platform team powers Sigma's internal analytics and demo infrastructure. We're a cross-functional team of engineers and analysts who build the data systems, pipelines, and experiences that help Sigma run—and help our customers see what's possible. We're fun, we move fast, and we get s#** done.
About the Role
As a Data Platform Graduate Intern, you'll dive into real work that matters. You won't be fetching coffee—you'll be building, shipping, and collaborating across Product, Engineering, and GTM teams. You'll be matched to one of our disciplines based on your interests and skills, but the work is inherently cross-functional. Expect to learn from (and teach) people across the org.
We're hiring across several focus areas within Data Platform:
- Demo Engineering: Build the experiences that show customers what Sigma can do. You'll design and prototype workbooks, dashboards, and data apps that showcase our newest capabilities—AI Query, Ask Sigma, writeback, no-code apps, and more. You'll work with sample datasets, manage demo environments, and create reusable assets the field teams actually use.
- Data Engineering: Architect and scale the pipelines that power our analytics. You'll work with our modern data stack (Fivetran, dbt, Snowflake, Sigma, Hightouch, Metaplane) to build foundational data infrastructure, improve data governance, and ensure our key data assets are reliable and available.
- GTM Engineering: Supercharge our go-to-market motion with data enrichment. Think Clay-style workflows—enriching leads, accounts, and signals to help Sales and Marketing work smarter. You'll build and automate enrichment pipelines that turn raw data into actionable intelligence.
- Analytics Engineering: Transform raw data into useful products. You'll work in dbt to build semantic layers, data models, and analytics-ready datasets that teams across Sigma rely on to make decisions.
- Data Science: Build intelligent systems with ML and AI. You'll explore Snowflake agents, semantic views, NLP, and other cutting-edge tech to create smart, automated solutions. If you're excited about applied ML in a modern data stack, this is your track.
What You'll Do:
- Own a real project from kickoff to delivery
- Ship work that gets used by real people—teammates, customers, or both
- Collaborate across Data Platform, Product, Engineering, and GTM
- Learn modern data tools and workflows hands-on
- Get mentorship from experienced engineers and analysts
- Iterate based on feedback and make things better
What You'll Gain:
- Hands-on experience with a modern data stack used by real companies
- Exposure to how data teams operate at a fast-moving startup
- Skills that translate directly to Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, and Data Science roles
- A portfolio piece you actually built and shipped
- Mentorship and connections across the org
Qualifications:
- Familiarity and strong past professional experience with SQL
- A passion for enabling all users to use data with Sigma. Past experience with Sigma a big plus.
- Interest and experience with modern data tools—Snowflake, dbt, Sigma, or similar
- Curiosity about how data systems work end-to-end
- Strong communication skills—you'll be collaborating constantly
- Adaptable, self-directed, and excited to figure things out
- Bonus: experience with Python, data visualization, or ML/AI concepts
About us:
Sigma is the only cloud analytics and business intelligence tool empowering business teams to break free from the confines of the dashboard, explore data for themselves, and make better, faster decisions. The award-winning software was built to capitalize on the performance power of cloud data warehouses to combine data sources and analyze billions of rows of data instantly via an intuitive, spreadsheet-like interface – no coding required.
Since launching with its unique interface, Sigma Computing has added features such as collaboration tools and embedded analytics capabilities. The most recent product launch included a set of AI tools such as forecasting capabilities, an AI copilot and a notebook interface for users who prefer a code-first environment.
Sigma announced its $200M in Series D financing in May 2024, to continue transforming BI through its innovations in AI infrastructure, data application development, enterprise-wide collaboration, and business user adoption. Spark Capital and Avenir Growth Capital co-led the Series D funding round, with additional participation from a group of past
