Description

The Manufacturing Production Planner plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of a production facility. They are responsible for planning, scheduling, and managing production processes to meet customer demand while optimizing resources and minimizing costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review new customer orders daily and prioritize material requirements accordingly to meet these demands.
  • Develop Production Schedules: Create detailed production schedules based on customer demand, forecasts, and inventory levels.
  • Ensure Timely Production: Plan production runs to ensure products are manufactured on time and delivered to customers as promised.
  • Adjust Schedules as Needed: Modify production schedules based on any disruptions, delays, or changes in demand.
  • Schedule, verify work order information, and release and expedite assembly work orders in accordance with customer backlog and production capacity to meet on time delivery objectives.
  • Run MRP and plan in accordance with order ship dates.
  • Manage stockroom activity – inventory receipts, RMA (receipt and tracking), shipping to and from production locations, and customer shipments.
  • Work with Purchasing Dept. to schedule and expedite purchase orders for all needed materials.
  • Run various system reports (Including Oracle) and create custom reports to properly track, manage and cycle count inventory of raw materials, work in process and finished goods to ensure they stay within planned levels and report pertinent planning information back to management.
  • Monitor Inventory Levels: Keep track of raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods inventory to ensure production runs smoothly without overstocking or understocking.
  • Stock Optimization: Ensure the right quantity of materials is ordered, avoiding both shortages and excess stock that can incur unnecessary costs.
  • Collaborate with Production Teams: Work closely with production manager, operators, and supervisors to communicate schedules, priorities, and resolve any issues that arise during production.
  • Work with Procurement & Suppliers: Ensure that the required materials are available on time by coordinating with procurement and suppliers.
  • Track Production Performance: Monitor and evaluate production KPI, including On Time To Promise (OTTP) and Past Dues, identify bottlenecks, and recommend improvements to enhance productivity.
  • Generate Reports: Prepare regular reports on production schedules, inventory levels, materials usage, and on-time delivery performance.
  • Forecasting: Analyze historical data and trends to predict future demand and assist in capacity planning.
  • Manage Resource Utilization: Allocate resources (materials, machinery, and labor) effectively to maximize production output and minimize downtime.
  • Capacity Planning: Ensure that production capacity aligns with forecasted demand and adjust resources accordingly.
  • Problem Resolution: Quickly identify any issues that might impact production, such as equipment failure, material shortages, or labor shortages, and resolve them promptly.
  • Contingency Planning: Develop contingency plans for production interruptions, ensuring that operations can continue or quickly recover in case of disruptions.
  • Document Production Data: Maintain accurate records of production schedules, materials used, downtime, and output for auditing and reporting purposes.
  • Communicate Updates: Regularly update relevant stakeholders (management, customers, etc.) on the status of production schedules and any potential delays.
  • Control Production Costs: Work to keep production costs within budget by optimizing resource utilization and reducing waste.
  • Evaluate Cost Efficiency: Monitor the cost of production and suggest adjustments to reduce inefficiencies without compromising product quality.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in production management, industrial engineering, business administration, or a related field. 4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment in lieu of degree will be considered.
  • 3 years of experience in production planning, manufacturing supervisor role, or related fields.
  • Experience in a manufacturing planning capacity with working knowledge of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) systems, Bill of Materials (BOM), and Process and Rou
