About the role

Job Description

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to GM Global Technical Center three times per week, at minimum

As the GM Energy Product Marketing Manager, you’ll be the voice of GM Energy, connecting our innovative GM Energy Product Managers with our partners across General Motors product marketing, brand marketing, and engineering organizations to integrate GM Energy product launches with vehicle and platform programs. You will be the single point of contact for GM product and brand marketing colleagues seeking information on GM Energy products, helping to spread product awareness and education to our internal partners.

You will support the GM Energy Planning Function to align with GM product and platform roadmaps. Working knowledge of GM product development and product marketing processes, strong communication, organizational skills, cross-functional collaboration, and a desire to learn about EV and charging technology are critical.  

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate customer-experience centric versions of GM Energy product roadmaps with vehicle and platform roadmaps such as timing of NACS charging capability and charging power / speed
  • Represent GM Energy in GM product, marketing, design, and engineering forums in coordination with GM Energy Product Managers
  • Support product launches by ensuring correct product information in all marketing/media/merchandising materials including vehicle order guides, catalogs, websites, price labels, product training, etc.
  • Along with other teams in GM and GM Energy, co-develop product go-to-market plans including sales channel strategy, target MSRP, product positioning, and assumptions for penetration rates
  • Integrate GM Energy products into vehicle packaging and pricing plans assessing offer strength vs. key competitors
  • Collect and communicate GM product and brand marketing needs and requirements as input throughout the GM Energy product development process
  • Define customer focused features while partnering with Product Research to make critical business decisions
  • Support GM Energy Product Managers to maintain product program content resources to reflect marketing intent and product features and specification
  • Align GM Energy product launch dates, specifications, and target penetration rates to product program content sheets
  • Actively participate in Brand Product Marketing forums, Program Execution Teams (PET), launch teams, and other forums as needed
  • Collaborate with GM and GM Energy market research and competitive intelligence teams to continue GM’s leadership in the energy and automotive industries.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferred in engineering
  • 5+ years work experience in Product Development,  Product Marketing, Planning (including Market Research and Forecasting), Marketing (including Market Analysis), or related functions
  • Strong interest in product, market dynamics, competitive analysis, EV and related technology, and consumer behavior
  • Ability to balance various inputs to make informed recommendations.
  • Clear and succinct communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to frame issues, draw conclusions, and make recommendations to leadership.
  • Confident participation in cross-brand and cross-functional forums.
  • Ability to act as a spokesperson in dealer events, training videos, and internal presentations.
  • Effective project management skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and assignments on time and with attention to detail

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • 7+ years relevant work experience
  • Experience with GM global vehicle development, pricing, marketing and launch processes
  • Familiarity with GM Energy products including residential EVSE (chargers), vehicle-to-home system, and/or residential energy storage system (ESS).
  • A passion for learning, creating new tools, improving or creating new processes, and teaching others
