About the role
SNC is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sr Systems Engineer with experience in the design and analysis of various payload techniques. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with kinetic and non-kinetic (Electronic Warfare, Survivability, Remote Sensing, Communications) capabilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team in development and analysis of mission operationsThe ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Its end-to-end Command, Control, Computers, Communications and Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities encompass design, integration, test, certification, ground/flight training and complete logistics support. Responsibilities:
- Lead a team in constructing and executing the roadmap for integration of kinetic and non-kinetic (Electronic Warfare, Survivability, Remote Sensing, Communications) capabilities for multiple platforms including manned aircraft and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS).
- Grow into role as Subject Matter Expert for kinetic and non-kinetic capabilities.
- Work with the Operational Analysis team to validate payload concept effectiveness through modelling and simulation.
- Review modelling and simulation results for completeness and accuracy.
- Ensure strong program traceability from CONOPS/Design Reference Mission (DRMs) to design and architecture decisions to integration, test, verification, and final validation of the capability.
- Be responsible for continued, demonstrable maturation of payload performance and functional requirements.
- Align with Business Development team on new payload strategies and customer engagements.
- Lead IRAD efforts in the development of new payload capabilities.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor's of Science degree in System Engineering or related discipline and typically 14 or more years of relevant experience
- Higher education may substitute for relevant experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices
- Progressive experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
- Advanced understanding of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; systems design, systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles
- Previous work leading teams focused on development of kinetic and non-kinetic (Electronic Warfare, Survivability, Remote Sensing, Communications)
- Strong understanding of the “why” behind payload capabilities such as EW and Remote sensing.
- Experience leading technical programs related to kinetic and non-kinetic (Electronic Warfare, Survivability, Remote Sensing, Communications) technologies.
- Experience working with and designing electrical and mechanical systems for defense applications
- Full life-cycle experience in product development, from concept derivation to validation.
- Proven experience leading development teams with mission-level models to inform design, operation, and troubleshooting of complex subsystems and their interactions in air defense applications
- Ability to foster strong customer relationships
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Familiarity with common airborne mission system elements such as - Global Positioning Systems (GPS), Inertial Navigation Systems (INS), Intercommunication systems (ICS), tactical radios, general compute architecture, networking, power distribution, cooling systems, and tactical datalinks (such as Link-16).
- Open architecture familiarity with the Open Mission Systems (OMS)/Universal Command and Control (C2) Interface (UCI) – Including the architectural principals and the general system behavior.
