We are a team of healthcare providers, educators, advocates, and administrative staff working to improve access and advance health equity.  Our mission is to provide quality sexual and reproductive health services - including birth control, pregnancy testing, emergency contraception, cancer screenings, STI testing and treatment, HIV testing and prevention, transgender hormone therapy, wellness exams, crisis counselling, financial counselling, and nonjudgmental abortion services.
Our organization is seeking an experienced Ob/Gyn to join our team as an Associate Medical Director (AMD) to assist our Medical Director lead some of our most important initiatives and serves as the Interim Medical Director in the absence of the Medical Director. The AMD is expected to also assist other medical services team leaders supervise the medical staff, follow and monitor all PPMNJ protocols, and provide direct medical care to patients. The ideal candidate will be an innovative high-achiever with a proven record of success and leadership excellence.  In partnership with the Medical Director and the Vice President of Healthcare Services, the AMD will be at the forefront of developing new care models and protocols that change the way women and other patients across the country receive and access care.  This position is a part-time (20 hours a week) position offering pro-rated compensation. 

Responsibilities

  • Protocols/Procedures:
  • In accordance with PPFA Standards and Guidelines, collaborate with the Medical Director for the drafting, implementation, and monitoring of PPMNJ medical protocols and procedures.
  • Assists the Vice President of Healthcare Services to assure integration of services and protocols with health center operations.

  • Medical Staff Supervision:
  • In collaboration with the Medical Director, provide for the recruiting, training, medical supervision, and evaluation of PPMNJ clinicians including nurse practitioners, nurse midwives, physician's assistants, and others.  Provide documentation that all competency requirements are met for staff, including, but not limited to, those who provide medication abortion and perform colposcopy.
  • Participates in the quality and risk management activities of the affiliate, including membership on the Quality and Risk Management Committee and Peer Review Committee
  • Supervises all clinicians.
  • Serves as Program Director of the following programs as designated by the medical director:  colposcopy, primary care limited and gender-affirming care hormonal therapy, abortion access and laboratory services. As program director responsibilities include:
  • a.     Developing and updating affiliate protocols in accordance with the PPFA Medical Standards and Guidelines
  • b.     Overseeing the training/education/supervision/proctoring and ongoing monitoring of health center staff
  • c.    Providing ongoing availability of consultation when needed 
  • d.     Granting clinical privileges relevant to the service. EXCEPTION: The program director may designate other clinician(s) who may grant clinical privileges for ultrasound. 
  • e.     Participating in RQM activities, including, but not limited to: Medical record review and other program audits; Peer review; and Review of required documentation (program complications, outcome/quality, etc.)
  • f.      The Program Director may designate staff to assist in the performance of these responsibilities.

  • Patient Care:
  • Provides clinical consultation to the lead clinicians and others as needed.
  • Provides direct medical care including medical abortion, family planning, and colposcopy services a minimum of 1 day per week.
  • Collaborates with other medical service team leaders on efforts to plan, implement, administer, and evaluate PPMNJ’s medical services to maximize both cost-effectiveness and the patient experience.
  • Will require admitting privilege or collaboration with back-up at local hospital.

  • Other Responsibilities:
  • Undertakes other activities necessary to promote the furtherance of the goals of PPMNJ.
  • Provides routine medical chart audits in accordance with PPFA Standards and Guidelines and PPMNJ protocols and procedures.
  • Attends regular medical services and medical services core team meetings.
  • Through these activities demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to PPMNJ’S core values.
  • Performs other duties as specified.
