Description
The Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) Department of Pediatrics seeks a faculty member in its Division of Academic General Pediatrics. The Division is currently comprised of 38 faculty members with a broad range of interests in supporting early childhood health and development from a holistic perspective. The vision of our Division is to improve the health of children through a comprehensive approach, addressing social, community, and societal challenges that children and families face in achieving optimal health. The clinical activities of our Division include newborn nursery and ambulatory pediatric care.
The Pediatric Primary Care Clinic employs a patient centered medical home model and relies on a multi-disciplinary team. Our clinic is one of the main safety net clinics in Nashville, serving a diverse and predominantly low-income population with high social needs. Our faculty are national and international leaders in clinical care of complex patients, resident and medical student education, clinical quality improvement, patient and family advocacy, and research.
The ideal candidate for this position should have experience in applying evidence-based clinical care to children. The candidate should be comfortable working in a busy academic medical center, with patients and families from diverse backgrounds, and participating in multi-disciplinary care. Use of interpretation services is required; fluency in Spanish or Arabic would be ideal but not required.
Academic rank, track, and compensation will be dependent upon qualifications. VUMC offers a generous benefits package to its faculty. We are deeply committed to the intentional recruitment of a diverse faculty that reflects the population and community we serve. We encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds and experiences, including those underrepresented in medicine, to apply.
Job Responsibilities
This position is for a physician-scientist on the tenure track. As such, responsibilities will primarily focus on advancing the scientific discovery mission of VUMC. Candidates will be expected to successfully apply for external grant funding to fund their own program of research. Additional responsibilities of this position include providing direct patient care and resident supervision in our ambulatory pediatrics clinic and in the newborn nursery. Opportunities to support other areas of our academic mission will be considered based on the interests of each candidate, including education, quality improvement, and advocacy.
