The Impact You’ll Make
You will lead and champion a critical function that is paramount to ensuring a world-class safety culture and regulatory compliance across our pharmaceutical research operations. You will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs. Specifically, you will contribute to the strategic design and execution of initiatives aimed at identifying and mitigating risks, ensuring adherence to all local, national, and international EHS regulations, and fostering a proactive safety mindset throughout the organization.
Furthermore, your responsibilities will extend to other global EHS initiatives and cross-functional collaboration, including leading incident investigations, implementing corrective and preventative actions, conducting regular EHS audits and inspections, developing and delivering impactful training programs, and advising leadership on emerging EHS trends and best practices. Ultimately, your leadership will safeguard our most valuable assets – our people and our environment – while enabling uninterrupted scientific innovation and maintaining our reputation as a responsible leader in pharmaceutical research.
In this role, you will:
- Develop, research, and support safety programs, including areas such as: chemical and biological safety, site-specific and general global safety programs, and environmental compliance.
- Serve as a technical resource and work cross-functionally on a variety of different EH&S programs
- Prepare reports and budgets; manage trainings, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with appropriate regulations
- Manage and develop emergency response procedures and respond to emergency situations
- Train, coordinate, and audit a variety of safety programs along with learning and quality platform ownership
- Help Recursion grow by supporting the planning and development of any future Recursion locations.
The Team You’ll Join
You will be joining the Global Laboratory Services team at Recursion, which works to support lab and site operations, facilities management, EH&S, expansion facilities, and other necessary areas. You’ll collaborate with your teammates and across departments to expand and enable Recursion to continue to grow and succeed in our mission to decode biology to radically improve lives.
The Experience You’ll Need
- Master’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety OR EHS professional certifications (CIH, CSP, etc.) along with 3 years of related professional experience (including supervisory experience) OR a Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of related experience (including supervisory experience)
- Experience in R&D laboratory settings (chemical and biological applications)
- Professional certification or licenses preferred
- Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws, regulations, codes, and guidelines as related to chemical and biological laboratories, hazardous waste management, environmental regulations, and general site safety
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Effective multitasking, record and information management skills
- Project development and coordination skills for a variety of different project areas
- Experience in sustainability and environmental improvement processes
Working Location & Compensation:
This is an office-based, hybrid position at our US headquarters located in Salt Lake City, UT. Local employees are expected to work in the office at least 50% of the time per week.
At Recursion, we believe that every employee should be compensated fairly. Based on the skill and level of experience required for this role, the estimated current annual base range for this role is $150,200 to $189,200 (USD). You will also be eligible for an annual bonus and equity compensation, as well as a comprehensive benefits package.
