Job Details:

Purpose

Provides patient care services including clinical assessment, examination, and treatment for patients as part of a healthcare team encompassing the phases of transplant including pretransplant, peri-transplant, and post-transplant care.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assessment, diagnosis and implementation of treatment plans. Orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests. Consults with other members of the healthcare team when appropriate. Instructs patients and family members regarding treatment.

  • Performs comprehensive history and physical assessment Documents findings noting pertinent normal and abnormal findings Orders and interprets the appropriate diagnostic labs and tests Forms medical diagnoses based on history, assessment and diagnostic findings

  • Participate in ongoing quality assurance audits and provide real-time feedback to improve patient care

  • Work collaboratively with a team of physicians, associate providers and other stakeholders to provide comprehensive clinical care

  • Ensure continuous flow of communication with leadership of clinic to enhance quality of healthcare services to patients

  • Participate in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows

  • Support and participate in research initiatives within the division

Marginal/Incidental Functions

Other related functions as assigned. 

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in nursing, science, or equivalent degree and a minimum of three years’ experience as an advanced practice nurse or physician’s assistant.  A license to practice in the state of Texas. Three years’ experience in providing Transplant Services care. Requires strong problem-solving skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Ability to work in a fast-paced practice environment; ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and patients.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctoral degree in nursing, science or equivalent degree and five years of experience providing obstetrical care.  Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. 

Salary Range

$120,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

May work around standard office conditions.  Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Use of manual dexterity. Continuous: standing, walking, and talking.  Frequent: bending, pushing, pulling, and extending of arms.  Ability to lift, push, pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
