Job Description

The Transition Program Manager (TPM) will lead the planning and execution of manufacturing, operations engineering, and supply chain activities for programs within Operations across all product lifecycles with a focus on emerging programs. The TPM shall be responsible for Operations content in proposals, ensuring compliance and application of NPI (new product introduction), transitioning to production, production and sustainment for multiple products with an objective of achieving operational excellence.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Be the lead and primary interface between Operations and assigned programs, Development Engineering, and Business Units
  • Own every aspect of Operations AOP (annual operating plan) contribution and performance for assigned programs
  • Drive speed, efficiency and continuous improvement into all Operations activities
  • Create and maintain achievable Operations program plans, schedules and Manufacturing Plans encompassing supply chain and internal manufacturing
  • Lead the bid & proposal process for Operations in collaboration with Development Engineering and Business Units
  • Establish the program cadence for material LOB (line of balance) management
  • Review Sales Orders, accept, execute and measure Operations performance to orders
  • Lead and coordinate support to production and development programs across Production functions
  • Support supply chain to ensure procurement plans are executable, make/buy decisions are documented, supplier Statements of Work (SOWs) are complete and procurement is on track for both development and production programs
  • Ensure that NPI is appropriately tailored and that NPI elements are included within proposals, BOEs (basis if estimates), program plans, IMS, engineering development plans, supporting manufacturing, and subcontract management plans; report on NPI execution with respect to plans.
  • Attend and be active member of design reviews and test readiness reviews; identify issues, identify lessons-learned, apply best-practices and be forceful on critical items to ensure NPI and production success
  • Serve as a ‘super-CAM’ responsible for coordination and management of Production control accounts that include supply chain, quality, operations, etc for assigned programs
  • Support Design to Unit Production Cost (DTUPC) creation, management and achievement with Development Engineering prior to transition to production for assigned programs/products
  • Lead and complete effective Production Readiness Reviews for assigned programs/products internally and with subcontractors

 

Qualifications

Education (Highest Level Required/Preferred)

  • B.S. Engineering or Technical degree required/ M.S. or MBA preferred.

Experience Required (years):                                        

  • 5-10 years of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required:

  • 3+ years of successful Program Management experience within programs, operations, supply chain or engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience managing programs through the product life cycle (pursuit through support and closure).
  • Demonstrated capability of managing cross functional teams with competing priorities (manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, etc.).
  • Capable of creating and maintaining constructive customer relationships.
  • Ability to manage disciplined internal processes by knowledge of industry standard tools and holding others accountable for the following:
    1. Earned value management
    2. Phase gate process
    3. Program Planning
    4. Risk Management
    5. Requirements Management
  • General knowledge of functional areas to include processes, initiatives and improvement objectives.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of financial data such as P&L statements, ROI analysis, and cash flow. High degree of business acumen.
  • Strong knowledge of Integrated Logistics Support.
