About the Role
Our ProtoFab Engineering team is growing and we are looking for an engineer to help assemble various flexible instruments, execute engineering experiments, perform testing and document testing results to support process development. The engineer will design, engineer, fabricate, document, and solve engineering problems. Provide feedback to help improve quality, efficiently, reliability, serviceability, manufacturability and cost. As an engineer you will be the DRE for each project and provide solutions to your customers. This will involve critical thinking of how to work a problem and create successful designs. This position has an anticipated start date of Feb 13th, 2023 and an anticipated end date of no later than Feb 13th, 2024. Dates are subject to change based on performance and use cases.
About the Work
- CAD design for components and prototype assemblies
- Machining (manual lathe and mill)
- CNC machining (VMC 3 axis and CNC plasma)
- Welding (Tig and Mig)
- Fabrication of hard parts
- 3d printing proficient
- Design and fabrication of cooling a chilling systems
- High voltage handling (lev5)
- Experienced with hand tools, saws, drills, ect
- Assemble, install, and test mechanical and electrical components for use on our robots
- Perform diagnostic troubleshooting and testing of our vehicle and robotics systems including electrical and mechanical sensors, cameras, computers, and other associated equipment
- Take the initiative to understand, communicate, and resolve vehicle issues related to safety, hardware, or maintenance
- Organize and maintain a professional work environment.
- Create novel and new solutions to engineering problems.
- Fabricate electrical and mechanical fixtures, cable harness assemblies, and circuitry.
- Solder wires, connectors, and printed circuit board components.
- Build fast-turn prototype hardware for various engineering group projects.
- Self manage projects with organized documentation.
- Experience with hand tools, drill machine, mill machine, and general shop machines.
- Create standard operating procedures.
About You
- 3+ years of experience in prototyping and fabrication
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering a plus
- Detail oriented, highly organized, with a passion for learning
- Diagnostic experience with vehicle or robotics systems such as electrical and mechanical devices, sensors, computers, and other associated equipment
- Familiarity with Linux OS
- Ability to remain flexible with the changing needs of the business
- Experience working with High Voltage, EVs, or Autonomous Vehicles a plus
- Automotive mechanic or hobbyist experience a plus
- Electrical assembly, test, or manufacturing experience a plus
- Electronic board soldering, experience in handling ESD sensitive components
- Experience in flexible instrument or catheter assembly and testing
- Proficiency in basic computer skills such as Word and Excel. Experience in SAP is a plus
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively and clearly communicate concepts, ideas and knowledge to other individuals and teams
- Experience working with ISO requirements and manufacturing scale-up processes
- Cleanroom practice
- Welding and machining experience a plus
At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position the reasonably expected hourly rate is $50 per hour. Offers are based on an individual’s experience, education, location, and skills.
