About the role
Reporting to the Supervisor – Environmental Systems, the incumbent exhibits leadership in identifying, implementing and supporting technology-based business solutions to enable environmental and sustainability efforts across Teck. The position may also include coaching and mentoring of other team members.
The incumbent engages at Teck's operations and is responsible for understanding business objectives along with the alignment of application and technical assets to support those objectives.
The environmental teams across Teck operations, business units and head offices are implementing and supporting systems for collection of environmental data for analytical and reporting purposes. The Senior Anayst will perform business analysis of the affected business processes and ensure timely, effective delivery of effective, supportable solutions.
The analyst will coordinate with other TDS technical teams inside and outside of Digital Operations to ensure Environmental and Sustainability solutions fall in line with related application strategies and support Teck’s overall data management strategy. The analyst will collect and represent requirements from the environmental teams across Teck as input into the larger process of setting Teck’s Environmental and Sustainability systems strategy.

Key Accountabilities:
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental policies and procedures.
- Represent Teck Digital Systems with business stakeholders, other digital teams exercising appropriate influence and skills in prioritizing work and setting plans, schedules and budgets for projects and sustainment.
- Support related cyber-security improvements, incident response, and forensics.
- Plan, develop, and support solutions to meet the business objectives of the Environmental and Sustainability Teams at all Teck Operations and Business Units.
- Plan, develop, and support solutions to meet the business objectives of special projects as required at relevant Teck Operations and Business Units.
- Apply organizational change management techniques to derive more value from existing technologies and ensure maximum adoption of new technologies.
- Promote usage of common, supportable technologies across Teck to reduce long-term support costs of custom data management solutions.
- Develop and manage relationships across all Teck operations and corporate offices. Leverage those contacts to facilitate alignment between the objectives of Teck operations and corporate objectives, and encourage communication and collaboration between operations and geographic regions.
- Follow up on actions and decisions, resolve identified issues, and implement appropriate risk mitigation steps.
- Provide information on progress, forecasts, actual vs. budget comparison and explanation of variances.
- Support achieving goals and improve delivery efficiency and effectiveness via continuous monitoring of core metrics, key performance indicators (KPIs), and other critical success factors.
- Mentor and coach junior colleagues and contract technology professionals as required.
- Provide input and recommendations on departmental long range plans, budgets and strategies and initiate change to benefit the whole organization.
- Maintain a general competency across TDS functional areas, between business functions, system integration and dependencies, and the roles and capabilities of enterprise delivery teams.
- Understand the current data management tools in use and their functional fit and alignment with corporate strategy
Key Competencies:
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering or Computer Science, a related subject area, or equivalent experience. A knowledge of GIS systems is also a benefit.
- 5 years of progressively senior experience delivering and supporting IS+T services across the Environment domain.
- Excellent program/project management skills and knowledge of business analysis.
- Strong commitment to customer satisfaction and the ability to maintain strong relationships with business partners, business management and application users.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High emotional maturity and ability to collaborate well with others.
- A confident and motivated self-starter, exhibiting the ability to accept growing responsibilities and duties, demonstrating ongoing leadership.
- Working level Spanish would be an asset.
