The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

1What Is the Opportunity?
We are seeing a Director, Kubernetes Platforms to lead and manage Travelers’ Kubernetes Based platforms. This team lead will leverage a product-focus, value defined methodology to define platform capabilities, partner with line-of-business application teams and ensure best-in-class operational success of a strategic application hosting platform. The Director, Kubernetes Platforms will foster a culture of innovation to enable strategic business solutions, optimize operating costs and drive workforce strategy via talent development and leadership.What Will You Do?
Lead the Kubernetes Platform Product within the Managed Container Services team.
Lead and coach a team of 5+ platform engineers.
Define self-service offerings and a product driven mindset to drive seamless adoption and usage by platform users.
Set the strategic direction for new and existing Kubernetes Platform capabilities.
Manage the operational success and reliability of a large fleet of Kubernetes clusters.
Define and execute on regular platform currency and upgrade lifecycles to align with support.
Manage and ensure on-call support for incident resolution as appropriate.
Define new evaluations and proof-of-concepts to address identified gaps and expand platform capabilities.
Regularly engage with Stakeholders and Consumers to understand Platform Usage.
Partner with other Product Driven Teams including CyberSecurity, Observability, CI/CD.
Define, manage and adhere to a set of KPIs to measure operational success.
Lead product planning and execution via a Scrumban Methodology.
Support transformation and migration efforts from on-premise to Cloud based Containers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
Five (5) plus years of Kubernetes experience.
Five (5) plus years of team leadership/management experience.
Demonstrated experience in product-driven organizations
Ability to build and maintain a trusted relationship with stakeholders and partners
Advanced knowledge of AWS EKS and General Kubernetes
Understanding of public cloud concepts, specifically AWS
Comprehensive understanding of containerized application design
Experience with enterprise-scale application migrations
Familiarity with CNCF Products and Solutions such as Istio, Argo CD, Cert Manager, Kyverno and more
Advanced IAC skills using tools like Terraform or Helm
Familiarity with GitOps principles and tools such as Argo CD
Bachelors degree preferred in Technology or a similar field (or equivalent experience).
Manages cross-functional objectives and/or priorities supporting an assigned business area(s).
