The Physician (Part-Time) will support the Safety and Mission Assurance contract at NASA Ames Research Center (ARC), Mountain View, CA. The Staff Physician will provide clinical care in accordance with evidence-based best practice guidelines and NASA Procedural Requirements, Occupational Safety and Health Act, and the Joint Commission.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provision of routine preventive health evaluations, occupational health fitness-for-duty evaluations in support of OSHA and NASA medical surveillance requirements (e.g. hearing conservation and respiratory protection programs); evaluation and treatment of common, work-related ergonomic disorders; annual flu vaccine clinics; travel medicine consultations; fitness center pre-activity assessments, and emergency medical response and participation in the AMES Disaster Medical Emergency Response Team.
- Provide back-up and support to the Medical Director/Physician. A minimum of 8 hours per week in addition to coverage during Medical Director/Physician's leave.
- Provide emergency response and urgent care onsite.
- Conduct requires occupational and job-related exams/tests.
- Implement and manage health maintenance exams.
- Contribute to periodic chart reviews, staff meetings, and continuous improvement.
- Provide clinic coverage when Medical Director or Nurse Practitioner is out of office.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED:

- This position requires US Citizenship due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
- Must have 5+ years of clinical experience, occupational medicine preferred, or in related field.
- Must have a medical degree (Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine) with preferred occupational medicine board certification.
- Requires federal NASA background check.
- Ability to pass pre-employment and periodic random drug and alcohol screenings.
- Must have a valid, active California medical license without restrictions.
DESIRED:
- FAA Aviation Medical Examiner designation; FMCSA Medical Examiner registration; CA state ambulance driver's license.
- Knowledge in clinical occupational and environmental medicine.
- Familiar with occupational medicine laws and regulations.
- Understand work fitness and disability management.
- Knowledge in toxicology.
- FAA Aviation Medicine Examiner designation.

- Experience in disaster preparedness and emergency management.

WORK LOCATION:
- This position is located onsite.
- This position offers a one workday per week schedule with additional workdays to cover events and coverage for the medical doctor.
- This position may require some travel.
BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:
