The Senior Mechanical Engineer is a technically competent professional who provides effective technical solutions for medium and large projects, executes complex assignments, mentors and trains others.
Major Responsibilities
Lead the mechanical effort on small to medium projects, especially related to static equipment.
Prepare technical specifications for static equipment.
Clarify vendor proposals.
Conduct technical bid evaluations.
Prepare technical requisition purchase packages.
Review fabrication drawings, calculations, and inspection and testing procedures.
Participate in inspection and testing activities from purchase through delivery.
Provide assistance and expertise to the Manager of Mechanical Engineering.
Keep abreast of new technologies.
Work with manufacturers of new equipment and services to make presentations and organize seminars.
What You Offer
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and at least 6 years of related experience in the chemical, petrochemical or related industries OR
Master of Science and at least 4 years of related experience in the chemical, petrochemical or related industries OR
PhD in Mechanical Engineering and at least 2 years of related experience in the chemical, petrochemical or related industries
The eligibility to apply for and obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within a reasonable timeframe
Preferred Qualifications
EIT Certification or Registered Professional Engineer in Mechanical Engineering
Knowledge & Skills:
Proficient in detail engineering for static equipment and related packages, including the preparation and review of the following:
Equipment specifications
Technical bid evaluations
Fabrication drawings
Calculations
Inspection and testing procedures from purchase through delivery
Well versed in the use of equipment software such as PV Elite or Compress.
Competent in the application of industry codes and standards (ASME/API/TEMA) for static equipment.
Good understanding of the requirements for maintainability, material selection and mechanical reliability.
Background in operability principles and maintenance requirements of the diverse machinery used in the chemical industry
Willing to travel as needed, up to 20 - 40% of the time
Willingness to pursue advanced education, training and professional registration
Good English language skills, written and oral
