About the role
Nature of Work: The Assistant Director, under the direction of an Associate Director or above, plays an integral role in the design, development, implementation and interpretation of departmental processes and/or programs.
Typical Responsibilities: Responsible for the administration of programs, policies & procedures for a functional area within a division or department. Responsible for the development and direction of new programs within the department. Assist in the development and implementation of strategies and objectives to ensure departmental goals are met. Develop, implement, monitor and report on key organizational and program performance indicators. Design and deliver presentations, workshops and educational/training materials. Train and supervise work of staff, students and volunteers as assigned. May represent the Director in his/her absence. During declared campus emergencies, this position may be required to perform specific job related duties at a designated off campus location or place of residence.
Required Qualifications: This position requires either (a) Master’s degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization and two years of experience directly related to the job functions; (b) Bachelor’s degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization and four years of experience directly related to the job functions; or (c ) 8 years of direct experience.
Evaluates students’ financial aid files against supporting documents, i.e. parents and students’ taxable income from federal tax forms, untaxable income, family household size, number in college, and assets of the family.
Processes in-house corrections for the Federal Student Aid Report (includes monitoring problems with the correction process and communicating them to the supervisor).
Assists with refunds and repayment calculation and process for all Title IV programs.

General Description / Primary PurposeThe Assistant Director Student Financial Aid, under the direction of an Associate Director or above, assists in the design, development and implementation of departmental processes and/or programs. Recommends policies and procedures to ensure effective coordination of departmental programs. This position reports to the Director of Financial Aid and is responsible for auditing, evaluating, and monitoring students’ financial aid records to determine eligibility for awarding financial aid programs and assist in retention.

Directly responsible for the supervision and evaluation of the office’s 5 Financial Aid Specialists. Assists in training coworkers in various financial aid processes. Assists with public information and public relations events pertaining to financial aid. Prepares reports and responds to surveys.Percentage Of Time 15
