In this role, you will report locally to the AST IA Section Manager in Anaheim Hills and perform the functions of an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) for Applied Signal Technology information systems and networks. You will support a multi-faceted customer base, including DOD and Special Program Access.

What You’ll Do
Coordinate and collaborate with the local Industrial Security Team at this location
Support day-to-day cybersecurity governance and operations for AST classified information systems and networks spanning DoD, SPECIAL PROGRAM ACCESS/SAR, and SCI programs. You’ll help implement JSIG/DAAPM/ICD-503 requirements, maintain A&A artifacts, drive continuous monitoring, and collaborate with technical teams to keep systems compliant and mission-ready.
Execute RMF/JSIG tasks: maintain SSPs and supporting artifacts (e.g., inventories, SCTMs, diagrams, CONOPS), contribute to assessment packages, and track POA&Ms.
Perform recurring security operations: account lifecycle and access reviews, audit/log reviews (e.g., SIEM), vulnerability scanning and remediation tracking, patch/ver control checks, and media control/sanitization.
Coordinate security change control: review proposed changes, ensure baselines remain hardened (STIG/SCAP), and document configuration management decisions.
Conduct and support security briefings, self-inspections, incident triage/reporting, and external assessments (e.g., DCSA/SPECIAL PROGRAM ACCESS).
Partner with PMs, network and system engineers to ensure classified system architectures remain compliant and risk appropriate.
Maintain virus/EDR definitions, support whitelisting/exception processes, and assist with forensic data preservation when required.
Travel occasionally to other AST locations as needed up to 15%
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience
2 years in IT or cybersecurity (helpdesk, sysadmin, security analyst/engineer) with exposure to RMF/JSIG or similar governance processes.
Working knowledge of OS security (Windows and Linux—Rocky 8/9 a plus) and networking basics (TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls).
Hands-on with at least one: vulnerability scanning (e.g., ACAS/Nessus or Rapid7), STIG Viewer/SCAP, SIEM (e.g., Splunk), endpoint protection/EDR, or PKI.
DoD 8570 IAM Level I (Security+ CE or equivalent) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.

Qualifications We Prefer:
Bachelors in Cybersecurity/IT/CS or related field; or equivalent experience
Prior experience as an ISSO/ISSM or direct support to A&A (e.g., eMASS or equivalent toolsets).
Familiarity with NISPOM, DAAPM, JSI
